Review: I am an Indian immigrant in Britain and would like to narrate an incident that happened recently which made me think. Me and an English friend were out shopping in HMV when we came across a newly released DVD which we both wanted to desperately watch. My immidiate thought after seeing the price tag was to wait for a month or two for the price to come down before I buy it. This reaction was not because I was not able to afford the cost of the DVD at that time but it was more of an instinctive reflex from my Indian upbringing. In the meantime, my friend walked out of the till clutching the DVD. I think that as much as we are a successful migrant community, the very reason limits us from having a lifestyle similar to our average contemporary born and raised in our adopted country.

Review: I think the writer forgot to mention one of the most important reasons why Indians would be more sucessful as compared to other immigrants. To me one of the main reasons is the English language. English is one of the biggest barriers to immigrants. However, English is an official language in India, but it is not an official language in most of the countries where immigrants come from. Ask yourself this question: Would it be easier for you to emmigrate to a country where they speak your language or to a country where you would have to learn their own language? Don't you think you would have a higher chance of success? While other immigrants start from zero, Indians start from higher in the ladder.
I do respect and admire Indians, but do not tell me that they perform better than other immigrants, without mentioning a huge advantage they have over other immigrant groups.

Review: I'm impressed with Dr.Wadhwa's article. Infact I'M PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN. I would like to add some more.
We as Indians we are adaptable. We do not oppose for a change instead we adapt to the change which is a key to success in this rapid globalization. You look at the way we have adopted English as a language in our day today lives.
Looking at the present growth in economy I'm sure its not going to take longer for India to imerge as fastest growing economy in the world.

Review: I work for an Indian company and what I see is incredible hard work. But is that to say other immigrants are not hard workers as well? No, what we see is this group whose families knew to get ahead was to study math and science. I applaud that. America, wake and let's get on board with our children and get them interested in science and math.

Review: I'm very impressed by the Dr. Wadhwa's style of expressing why Indians are the model immigrants. This article was forwarded to me by a friend and after going through the comments I feel proud of being an Indian. But as some of the comments said the Indians who are in U.S. come from society's upper class, I would like to deny the notion as I myself belong to a middle class family and know several other friends who are from the same social and financial status. We are doing good and would say earning well from university scholarships and part time job which are mostly in the research labs. We learn to earn and save here. And would like to conclude that I'm proud to be here in USA the place which is giving us ample opportunities to make it big in our lives!!

Review: I am impressed by the article very much because it reflects on every single Indian immigrant to US. Coming to US and earning a good income s a dream come true...but this is possible not with education alone. That is possible only those with a middle-class to wealthy family background.

Review: I believe that the author did present the facts! Did you people with inferiority complexes read the report published by Duke and Berkley on the contributions of skilled immigrants? There is another BusinessWeek article about this as well.

Review: I will add one more point.
Most Indian's are very religious. Regardless of faith, they are consistently calling upon their God for blessings, solace, and encouragement.
