Review: Moondog: ITV is not the same as iTV. We are case sensitive over here at the orchard.

Review: I have been with Apple since the first days. I just bought a G5 dual, only to see Apple coming out with Intel processors. I sure wish Apple would wake up and look at up-grades for the G5 users. I sure don't know what to buy in the next year. I may have to go to upgrade systems such as the PC.

Review: Apple makes more money selling devices than it does on its iTunes Service. This move is either to boost service revenue or to get one more device to make a dent in the market. It will be another 2 years before people get iBored of more "i" products and accessories from that orchard company.

Review: Apple's always been plagued & suffered from other companies copycat practices. Maybe now they're just giving the public the heads up with confidence in their brand's name. Historcaly, wasn't it once said that Windows 95 should have been called Mac 88. iTV follows what Apple does best: keep it simple, their remote control does this best(40+ buttons down to just 6 for all the same functions); a classic only topped by the click wheel.

Review: Apple and Jobs are taking a huge risk by announcing and showing what future products could and will do. I am sure executives and design teams at Sony & Samsung sat upright on Sept. 12 and will be working overtime to launch competitive product(s) before Apple does. I realize that Apple is being confident because it has the integral base of the iPod, iPort and iTunes structure behind it. But Apple shouldn't forget that Sony owns a lot of video and music content and produces enough of the world's TVs & flat Panel HD TV displays. I would be prepared to buy a Sony version of an iTV if it was included in the remote control of my TV and/or in my PS4. Which brings me to yet another point, i.e., Apple is bringingvVideo into a world that is computer gaming.

Review: I believe Steve and Apple are going in the right direction. I have been hooked on streaming video using PCs for the past year. Techies have been doing Wi-Fi video streaming for a while using open standard xVid (Divx) compressed videos from PC to a laptop hooked up to a TV set. If Apple can make this set-up effortless and have content for the technology, they will have another home run on their hands. It's all about execution and my money is on Steve's Apple.

Review: So far, people commented on the similarity to the Mac mini's form, but no one has made the connection yet. I think it's because it's intended to be stacked on the top of Mac mini if you want a DVD player and a media storage apart from your computer. Mac mini may even gain a DVR funtionality when Apple is ready, so you can mix and match a Mac mini, an iTV, an iPod and an iMac/Mac Pro.

Review: Like yeah, they haven't revealed all of the iTV's secrets...just like Leopard (OS X 10.5), they are keeping some if not most of that info back for the release. Standard Apple secrecy...who knows what the iTV will be capable of?

Review: It will be great if Apple's iTV can support HDTV - the challenge is the download time from the web.
Assuming a 3Mbps connection, dowloading an hour long MPEG-4 HDTV program (compressed at 8Mbps) will take almost three hours...
Another challenge is to maitain a 8 Mbps real time video stream over a home Wi-Fi network (from the computer to the iTV box) with no glitches in the video. I imagine talented minds are working on this problem.
