Review: I would much prefer to see a dividend increase. Most of these buybacks are an effort to inflate the share price so the top execs can boost the value of their options.

Review: Companies would be better served putting the cash to work on something that actually enhances value: R&D, marketing, cap ex improvements, paying down high-interest debt, or strategic acquisitions.

Review: I am a shareholder in Daimlerchrysler. I have thought very much that it would be nice if shareholders lobby for a buyback to compensate for very lacking returns since 1996.
