Review: While I enjoy Marc's optimism I think he is overly enthusiastic about the software industry in Silicon Valley. I worked in the "Valley" for over 10 years, and have moved on to sunnier climes. What I noticed after leaving the area was what an extemely provincial and rarified environment Silicon Valley is. In the end, no one cares about the next browser or the ability to create Web pages. We can already surf the Web and build sites. Real inovation is being done by companies that enhance the quality of life with medical products, consumer products, and so forth.

Review: Andreessen is very excited about some interesting developments, but I remain pessimistic about Silicon Valley. I left the Valley 14 months ago to live on the coast of North Carolina and don't regret it a moment. Andreessen talks about the Valley like the telephone and the Internet never happened. There's nothing in the Valley one can't have here and both office space and housing are way more affordable.

Review: OPSW is still down 20% from their IPO price of over three years ago (which, btw, went out at the BOTTOM of the market). Let's hope Zend and Ning don't fall to a similar fate.

Review: I share Marc's opinion of PHP development. It has a great future and many startups will profit form it. In my opinion, Opsware is on the right way and with Marc Andreessen as head it has a great potential. WeŽll have to watch this company. Greetings from Germany.

Review: Mars Andreessen gets it. Very interesting comments on where the industry is heading. Oracle and similar "old style" software companies are going to have a hard time finding new revenue.
