Review: At Spanning Sync, we're huge Apple and Google fans and think the idea of combining their strengths is an excellent one, so we implemented it--at least part of it. Our eponymous service syncs iCal and Google Calendar bidirectionally, which effectively makes iCal an incredibly elegant front-end for Google Calendar's incredibly powerful online collaboration and notification capabilities. There's more information about it at spanningsync.com if you're interested.
Long term, we see the Mac as the ultimate Google services client. As Google opens up more API's into their apps, we'll continue to make the connections to make that happen.
Regards,
Charlie

Review: All of you who think no one can compete with Microsoft, just keep on sleeping. Turns out this is one thing Bill Gates didn't lie about during the monopoly trial where they were convicted, but not prosecuted. They do have competition.
Apple will continue to win converts, and this is only going to accelerate.
iPod a fad? You obviously don't have one (don't be the last person in the developed world to clue in to it.)
By the way, if you haven't heard yet, your Dell DJ is now orphaned. Guess it doesn't play "fer sure" afterall. Hint for you: it's not even remotely like iPod, no matter how you try to equate them, or how much Dell and others rushed to rip off features.

Review: What I'm most looking forward to is the replacement of MapQuest by Google Maps as the default map available from Mac's Address Book. Mac users know what I'm writing about!

Review: Apple-Google. Interesting. Apple has been plotting for 5 years to be better. Wow, and they have. This can only help. "iPod is a fad," Satish said. I guess you can't wait to go back to your CD player or vinyl record. You must be really old school.

Review: Karlos, is your head in the sand? Apple has been increasing its marketshare and selling Macs like crazy. Are you in denial?

Review: Yes, I believe these two can do great together but still they is no great threat for Microsoft. Still they can't convert Microsoft users to use Apple or MS Office users to use Google's Office. By getting together they can give ease to Apple users in the office operation.

Review: The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Both Google and Apple have good reason to fear Microsoft's joyless grinding down of competition as it simply corrals customers by limiting their choices, rather than attracting them with anything possessing imaginative form or function.

Review: This news may make for fodder for fun "what-if" articles, but such analysis only works if one does not consider the far greater challenges of actually coordinating vastly different (albeit similar sounding) efforts by the two companies. We would do well to be entertained, but face the simple reality that even a subtle change in direction from either company would be more than one should reasonably expect from a mere addition to a company's board.
