Review: Some of you people are crazy. An STS that doesn't ride nice? Complaining about an Escalade because the motor doesn't look nice. It's covered in plastic because it keeps the heat in and allows the truck to run better. A good looking motor in an ugly car is pointless. And I've never heard of a caddy STS not riding nice. Maybe you have a bent rim or something because that just doesn't happen. All you foreign car owners can have fun with your Corollas and Civics. Your four-cylinder cars might save gas but you can never pull out of your driveway in a Civic and peel the tires like I do with my ls1 Camaro. I'll take American muscle all day. It's better value and a better ride.

Review: My toyota echo has been much more reliable than any of the 5 American cars that I have owned. It has over 108,000mi on it and had have no repairs at all done to it. The American companies use patriotism to sell crap. Long term reliability not initial quality is what one should consider. Also with peak oil coming soon the Japanese are way ahead.

Review: Can someone inform some readers that just because it is produced in the US, Toyota, Honda and Nissan are still foreign (owned) cars. I drive American, and even though there are a bunch of poor domestics out there, I'll stick with domestics. In another 30 years I bet my 2006 GTO will be a classic like my 69 chevelle, not that Lexus.

Review: Some guy said that GM doesn't have good-looking engines. When I quit laughing, I began typing. I don't know about "looks" but, GM repeatedly has some of the most advanced engines out there. The LS-1 is a V-8 standard. It's a pushrod, yet it still out performs SOHC's and DOHC's in power and gas mileage. A six-speed LS-1 V-8 with over three hundred horsepower gets right at 30mpg. That's something Toyota and Honda used to brag about with their I-4's before going hybrid. And design? Sure, Japan is capable of making a good looking car, but you have to buy a Lexus or Acura to get it. For the rest of us, we have only the Camry, Accord, Corolla, and others and all carry the social statement of "forgive my poverty, I must be a college student." I think people are defending Japanese models for two reasons: a Japanese model was all they could afford and are defending what they own; or their defending them simply because it seems "popular" to do so these days.

Review: To the GM retiree of 44 years: I congratulate you on your longevity but you are really out there on a limb to think that GM builds a superior product to Honda and Toyota or most other foreign brands. Toyota and Honda hold their value much better. I've owned three new Pontiacs, three new Hondas and two new Fords. My first Honda had 180,000 miles after 7 years and it was still going strong with only minor maintenance needs. Can't say the same for any of my Fords or Pontiacs, although I'm trying to stay with them! The truth is that the Japanese automakers learned our techniques in the 1950s and 1960s and methodically built a superior product!

Review: Toyota and Honda produce some of the most boring cars on the market today. There is nothing fun or exciting about the vehicles and they are ruining the fun of driving. GM's vehicles have an edginess to them that Toyota and Honda cannot match. Sky, Solstice, G6, Hummer H2 and H3, Escalade, Corvette... these are just some of GM's fun vehicles. On the quality front, if I'm not mistaken, Toyota had over 1 million recalls last year and GM just recently began offering a 5 year 100,000 mi warranty on new 2007 vehicles.

Review: The varying opinions of self-proclaimed auto industry experts who have responded here is quite amusing. One bad vehicle experience makes them believe the entire company is a disaster. GM is currently well on its way to a turnaround. I've owned nothing but American cars my entire life and the only problematic one was a Jeep (post-DCX acquisition). I'll continue to buy GM (but never Ford) because I'm patriotic. But many US citizens are hardly that anymore, from politics to their purchase decisions. Sad indeed.

Review: I recently retired from GM after 44.2 years and am very proud of working there. I've driven GM cars all my life and will never own a so-called foreign car (as far as I'm concerned the Japanese can only copy what GM builds. They CANNOT design or build any hing on their own, just copy, copy, copy, copy!!!!!!!!!! That's all they know how to do. I think GM builds the BEST and most dependiable cars in the world. Have you ever seen a Toyota or any foreign car that holds its value like a Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac and last 100 years? It'll never happen. Wake up America!!!!!!!!! A proud GM retiree
