Review: Yes, but movies and music don't distract you nearly as much as video games. With music and movies, you just sit there and and think about what the movie or song is about, but with video games you always have to think on your feet and be one step ahead of the game or you will lose. This is the kind of thing that distracts you from the pain. Concentrating so hard on a certain thing will make you forget you ever had pain.

Review: I think what makes the video games different is the human participation. Listening to music and watching videos is passive. Only a video game requires active participation of the mind and body. As such, the person is much more likely to stay engaged. :) As a software developer and gamer, I am excited about the possibilities!

Review: I recently heard about some research with FPS, RTS, and adventure games with regards to long-term pain control. The general idea is the intense action and narrow focus being used as a distraction from the pain.

Review: It is a good way to distract, but not just the video games can do that. Music, TV and movies can also have the same effect. So the market may not be so full of potential after all.
