Review: Inevitably, Vista is going to be full of holes. Exactly as what was stated, "Complexity is the enemy of security." Microsoft's attempts to integrate simplicity for the "PC in a box" user only open more weaknesses in the OS. We all saw what happened with XP, which, before release, was proclaimed to be the most secure edition ever. I don't hold high hopes for Microsoft's promises, or its new OS.

Review: We English privateers beat the mighty Spanish gallions--so Vista should be a coordinated fleet rather than an aramada. Require fingerprint links, clearing accounts, operations accounts, and dispersment accounts.

Review: A completely secure system is one that has no outside connections or input. The nature of operating systems is the ability to get all input to work together for the common goal of accomplishing the computing task, but that very thing is what makes it the most vunerable to hacking. Microsoft's Vista is an amazingly complex blend of multiple input sources that I do not believe will ever be made secure. The security will come from how one can gain access to the input methods and who will be allowed to have that access. No matter how strong the bomb shelter, a stronger bomb seems to be made or another method that weakens the fortification so that the shelter can be destroyed. Let Apple continue to boast of its secure past, and the future will prove a disaster for that operating system also. Now that the Mac is running "Windows" to make it more universal, beware!

Review: How much 'Vista ready' malware already exists? Wouldn't it be nice to think that a Vista system straight out of the box, without assistance from layered security products could be secure. Unlikely! Microsoft's challenge should therefore be applauded. How else can they recruit talent like Joanna Rutkowska to help test Vista ahead of its public debut. Hey, we'd pay a fortune to have her working with us. I think that Gates and Balmer care deeply about security. Vista will be stronger, but there will inevitably be a vast number of openings for hackers and malware writers to exploit. The methods will change but the game will continue. But rest assured. I recenty asked one of Microsoft's senior security architects if he had any concerns about the exponential growth in malware and the possiblity of exploitation by terrorist factions. He told me, nah, we're Microsoft, we'll figure it out! See, nothing, and everything to worry about!
