Review: Bluetooth wireless connectivity is becoming mainstream in vehicles. And the A2DP audio profile now being pushed down the handheld range of Smartphones already allows for audio streaming. Perhaps the only thing Apple needs to do is provide iPod control through AT command emulation and throw in a Bluetooth module on board as there is in most phones now. No need to carry distracting graphics/menus inside the car, just get the steering wheel controls for essential functions if you can, as are commonly used now for handsfree phone operations. To ipud: iTunes runs well on my Win NT box, and syncs much better with my iPod than my Win CE phone with its matching Win Media Player.
To Detroit: The urgency in your industry is to halve fuel consumption, not toy around with entertainment telematics for which there are many first/second-tier specialists, not to mention aftermarket providers.

Review: Can I just say how much I hate the iPod? I mean, I really hate it. I can't stand the scroll wheel - I hate scroll wheel/touch pad anything, including laptops - and the pretentious whiteness of the design is just beyond annoying and soooooooo Apple.
But, hey, I always hated the iMac, too, even tho that's what saved Apple from the junk pile - barely. But it was just a shiny wrapper on the same old crap proprietary OS.
Oh, which is just like iTunes - won't work with anything else. It's so awesome to watch Apple make the same old stupid mistakes that nearly crushed them in the mid-90s.
And how about that iTunes library? It's awesome if your musical tastes run a few inches deep.

Review: Defender: You are a tool of the DRM mafia and a willing, gullible surrenderer of your rights. We will not permit corporations to steal our rights, form price-fixing cartels, and require us to receive their permission every time we use their overpriced, mindless corporate media. People like you who help them should be ashamed of yourself.

Review: Razor: You do own your songs, nothing is preventing you from burning them on a CD and using them as you please. Make sure you have all the information before passing unfair and inaccurate judgement ("iTunes is a sham").

Review: If you buy a song, you cannot do whatever you want with it as long as you don't profit from it. For instance, you can't give it to whomever you please. But, I believe that the copryright laws, as they exist currently, are woefully out of date. Current and future technology are and will continue to make mockeries of DRM, distribution control, region coding, etc. The laws need to be rewritten and we need a totally different viewpoint of what "copyright" means because what we have to is as outdated as laws that prevented women and minorities from voting! And that analogy is apt and fitting!

Review: If you're going to complain about DRM, point it in the right direction. In this case, it's the record companies who insisted on it. Jobs ended up realizing how Apple could benefit and did so. You ever wonder why Microsoft is fighting so hard to get a chunk of this? You think it's because they want to finally be associated with something "cool?" Think again. Microsoft wants their own DRM embedded WMP files to become the defacto standard. For Microsoft, it's always been about control. But, it's the greedy corporate minds in the music/movie industries that insist on DRM and that's who you need to direct your anger to.

Review: Radio stations are and have been paying performance rights for songs for many, many years although it doesn't go to the record companies. It goes to BMI, ASCAP and SESAC who represent the artists/writers.
Putting iPod specifc cables in cars is a blatant attempt to "corner the market?" Worthy of the U.S. Government (not "bleeding hearts") suing Apple? Wow, I'm sure that little tactic ought to convice the remaining 25% to jump ship!

Review: About itunes being a sham: By those standards, currently, every music service in the market is a sham. So I correct you: iTunes lets you burn CDs from anything you have downloaded or ripped. Bingo. Take your purchased music anywhere. It's yours, after all. What about those other services? Oh yeah, the "subscription" model? That's renting music. When you stop paying the subscription fee, boom, all your music is gone.
