Review: I think harnessing the power of social networks to uncover latent trends is a powerful concept. This article talks about just applying it within an enterprise, while I think within the next 12 months, you would have a consumer mass market implementation in this area.

Review: I've been a practicing future trader for quite awhile and I would be willing to bet heavily on the side of "yes" if you were to put the question "Is BusinessWeek Online missing its target market?", judging from the email you're receiving. ;)

Review: In the end of all the bumbling around in these marketing research, it takes one person with enough intuition to bring innovative products that people will love.

Review: Perhaps, the most valuable feedback is the negative response from inside employees to the products/services. If the insiders do not believe in them, chances are the outsiders wouldn't too.

Review: Is this not similar, if not the same idea as the "futures" market the Defense Department tried to setup a few years ago to forecast world events?

Review: Prediction Markets are an excellent example of a technology that has been around for some time, but is only now beginning to get corporate attention. If you're interested in more examples of such "below-the-radar" technologies, and some pointers to unearthing more, read my essay, "Reengineering the Crystal Ball", at http://www.computerworld.com/managementtopics/management/story/0,10801,108005,00.html?SKC=management-108005

Review: Some may disregard the "wisdom of crowds", yet having participated in NewsFutures Markets for a number of years, it has ceased to amaze me the number of times a question posed has come to fruition, and those who seemed to be playing to an adverse final outcome, have sat back satisfied and said "we knew it all along." Research/knowledge and common sense are important tools. When those are combined with gut instinct and the boldness to play the question in that direction... can equate to great satisfaction :-)

Review: This is a very apt article on the trend of enterprise solutions have adaptated from the consumer world (see http://www.theworkplaceblog.com/2006/06/web_20_changing_companies_insi.html )

Review: Doh! It's a dopey assumption -- that workers inside a company have a similar opinion of company products, compared to outsiders who would be the actual potential customers.
