Review: With its new product development, organizations within Google such as GoogleLags beleive in launching early just to maximize its philosophy. New Developments are just intended as a dry-run fro consumers and to see their prference on products. Google at anytime can showcase a product that can be either a blockbuster or forerunner for other products.

Review: simplistic, unfocused, silly. to call this vp a "launch czar" is laughable. she clearly has very little understanding of effective launch methodology or underpinnings. first off, releasing products is not the same as launching them. secondly, pushing out new products in a scattered, unfocused way tells your customers that you really don't care enough about them to study them first. third, it doesn't show your product teams very much respect to just release a product without marketing support. way to show your engineers that they matter!
this is a case of success through brand -- their "process" is just a matter of luck they enjoy as a large, well-established corporate empire. i would love to see mayer take on the role of "launch czar" at a smaller company. i predict crash and burn...

Review: In this highly competitive industry, innovation has become essential to survive the rat race.
Google is obsessive about that. Though they dominate the search engine market, they know that others would catch up with them sooner or later. So, they need to keep innovating things and explore unchartered waters.
But it seems that they lay their hands on too many things, without focus or groundedness.

I am just a bit concerned about the 'Organization' stuff.
Might just kill off the innovation, if people lose the flexibility and 'Thriving in Chaos'!

interesting, it works with a lot of money, a more focused approach to achieve the same aim with less. Giving the customers what they want is the key. Keep up the good work.

Review: Google's spaghetti-against-the-wall approach is admirable, but maybe misguided. Why not ask consumers what they want, and then build it? This simple concept is often missed - not sure if it's Marissa's lack of experience or group think at Google. Her "10 minute" shotgun reviews of new ideas can't do them justice. Also - who at BW has a love affair with Marissa? She gets more articles than the founders!

Review: What I miss is the notion that at some time you have to get serious. Google has been very serious building a good search engine, but with those other products they don't seem able to make the switch and declare the product important.
At some point, they need to decide that they want to make money with a product. And from that point they should start building it as good as they can--not as good as some hobbyist employees find enough.

Review: It seems to me that Google is trying a trial and error approach to new products. Not necessarily the best model, in my opinion, but they can handle losing a lot and having only a few successes.
