Review: Usually the US media blames the Chinese for the global pollution problems confronting the world. On a per capita basis, the Chinese pollute a small percentage of the average American living in his McMansion and driving a gas-guzzler SUV. But you would never read these facts in the mainstream US media. It would be far more productive for the US to actually lead in energy efficient technology that could be exported to the developing world who are also interested in reducing pollution.

Review: For those who believe in consensus among scientists please do some homework. Whatever happened to the ?consensus? in media during the 70?s of the inevitable COOLING of the earth (Newsweek, April 28, 1975)? I am not an "Anti-alarmist" and I believe we should be kind to the earth. However, both alarmists and those who disagree should be listened to. We should NEVER, dismiss SCIENTIFIC observations because they might counter consensus (think Chris Columbus). Katrina was a terrible natural disaster, but the flooding had nothing to do with environment (other than the fact that the city was built below sea level) and a lot to do with politics. Why was there little attention given to the tame 2006 hurricane season? Sure some glaciers are receding, but others continue to grow. Public policy should be made with ALL the facts and not just the facts that can scare voters. Policy made based on the wrong reasons may do more harm than good. Please VOTE, but by all means, THINK before you do so.

Review: I see BusinessWeek has succumbed to Al Gore's single variable, snapshot in time, "junk" science.

Review: Why is it our problem? Because the US is the world's number one polluter. The US has 5% of the world's population and produces 25% of the greenhouse gases. So work it out for yourself. Besides, we share this world, its everyone's problem and the sooner certain people get their heads out of he sand and accept it, the better.

Review: Global warming is real and it will stay, unless Americans and our President Bush address this serious issue. This not only American problem, but it's world problem. Americans have to change their life styles!!!

Review: Would anyone argue that reducing our own pollution and use of energy is a bad thing? Let's stop bashing the so-called alarmists and, since none of us really know the truth, and won't really know the truth until it's too late, take the safe bet and tighten up. It cannot possibly be the wrong thing to do.

Review: When Newsweek featured global warming in a 1988 issue, it was claimed that all scientists agreed. Periodically thereafter it was revealed that although there had been lingering doubts beforehand, now all scientists did indeed agree. Even Mr. Gore qualified his statement on ABC only a few minutes after he made it, clarifying things in an important way. When Mr. Stephanopoulos confronted Mr. Gore with the fact that the best estimates of rising sea levels are far less dire than he suggests in his movie, Mr. Gore defended his claims by noting that scientists "don't have any models that give them a high level of confidence" one way or the other and went on to claim -- in his defense -- that scientists "don't know? They just don't know." Question: How did we have an Ice Age?

Review: There was no "if" with the ether theory of physics either, but it was proved wrong. In the current case, there is no research on the relationship between the 10 -15 degree ocean temperature surge of the current hurricane cycle and the longer term global warming research of one degree change. This is a huge gap in knowledge that the public and policy makers are not being told about. In fact, we have Gore media and many other misinformation specialists pointing to effects of warming that may be due to the higher temp cycle that Max Mayfield described in congressional testimony about the hurricane cycle. A major policy mistake based on a science knowledge gap could set the world economy back a generation, at which time the hurricane cycle and ocean warming will be cycling down!

Review: There's no "if." And small businesses will and already are suffering. Re: consumers - everytime I see someone driving an enormous SUV, thinking it will keep their asthmatic kids "safer," or some jerk in his oversized truck used to compensate for his lack of manhood, I think,"they just don't get." Unfortunately, we're all going to suffer together. The GOP and others who don't take global warming seriously are killing our kids.

Review: Yes, global warming has been happening for a long time. I was first warned of it in college biology in the 60s. I have been consistantly disappointed since then with every "solution" I have seen: trash all your stuff and buy better stuff. I have never seen another mainstream solution. It is just another sales gimmick to increase the GDP at the expense of the environment and the infrastructure. Until someone - anyone - can come up with a sustainable, environmentally friendly solution, the answer is, "no." I'll struggle with the problem as best I can using my own wits.
