Review: I actually attended the Social Networking dialogue hosted by NCMEC and was impressed with the positive tone of the conversations. As Mr. Nigam noted, collaboration was highly stressed at the event, as one of the best strategies to hinder sexual predators from targeting kids. While there is always room for improvement, I'm encouraged to know that we have some tools that are currently in place/being developed to help provide a safer online environment for teens. For example, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children provides a resource called Cybertipline where the public can report instances of child pornography or exploitation online. In addition, law enforcement agencies are beginning to monitor Social Networking sites to weed out predators. And some sites such as MySpace and Facebook are looking into technologies to help protect their members. All in all I thought it was a productive discussion and good way to start brainstorming solutions to these challenges.

Review: MySpace is creating great concern among parents. Kids use this networking site to discuss illegal activities, post explicit pictures of themselves, and much more. Classroom teachers, Brian and Julie Dixon, want to give parents tools to create a safe online experience at home. "Parents are hearing about Internet horrors at every turn, but scary stories don't help them protect their kids. We're here to help parents go from scared to prepared," shared Julie. The Dixons produced a DVD titled "The Internet and Your Kids: Healthy Habits for a Safe Online Home." The DVD features two chapters devoted entirely to MySpace. Brian walks parents through step by step tutorials showing them how to put MySpace safety features in place and teaches strategies for overall safe Internet use. Is there a safe way to use MySpace? The Dixons answer is yes, but parents need the right tools. This DVD is a needed resource. Those interested in the DVD can visit www.internetsafety.com, or call 1-800-983-4DVD.

Review: I have been a MySpace user for several months and I feel that it is important for parents to understand that just like in the real world, kids and even teens need supervision. I also feel that layoutfix.com has become an important tool when editting and maintaining your MySpace profile.

Review: The US government holds important facts: Growth in new perpetrators is alarming. Statistically most of the still missing children were victims of age-old perpetrators still active today. Laws do not allow for arrest and prosecution due to statutes of limitations, a time period where if not caught the criminal is free. Most victims are not psychologically prepared to come forward due to trauma, and then it is too late.
Civil cases do not allow for prosecution. There are 1000's and 1000's of these perpetrators that cannot be arrested. Laws need to change and it would be nice if MySpace would promote www.RICOforKIDS.org. The goal--arrest those perpetrators with multiple victims who can undeniably identify them.
I was a victim of four working together while 9 years old, they left me for dead following multiple anal penetration. Two of them are still holding camps for children. The law will not arrest them due to statutes. Please support www.RICOforKIDS.org and understand the law.
