Review: I have used Macs at home since OSX came out. I haven't found a file that I use at work that I can't open on my Mac. I have Office for Mac and I think it actually runs smoother on Mac than on Windows. The hardware prices are pretty comparable now. In fact, the larger Macs are actually cheaper than their Dell equivelents.

Review: A 1.9% market share? Is this myth ever going to die? Needham's own survey showed a 4.9% market penetration.

Review: I bought a MacBook a month a go, after using "regular" PCs for 13 years, and now I want to change my entire appartment hardware to Apples. I bought the MacBook because of the ability to run Windows. But I doubt I'll ever install it. OS X is superior in all aspects I've seen so far.

Review: It's the elitist attitude, combined with overpriced hardware, that keeps Macs as an also ran. The 190 or 200 people at the store that night were there with a number in hand waiting to talk to a support person. Glam it up and call it an experience and the sheep will come.

Review: I don't understand the statement that Macs make the Windows experience look like "hell on earth", as Justin put it. I work on a Windows machine effectively every day. I guess we all have different experiences. It has been 12 years since I have used a Mac regularly, but I recently bought a Mac Mini (Intel Core Duo). I have had mixed results. There are some things that I like better on XP, and others that I like better on OS X. I like that the Mac Mini is small and quiet, but for the same money I could have bought a PC with 2 times the memory, 3 times the hard disk space, and a faster dual core processor (AMD Athlon X2). I like our new Mac fine, though it seems that Windows XP at work feels snappier in a lot of ways. For me, getting a Mac has been a fun change, but not a compelling one. I like that Apple is giving Microsoft some competition. Vista will succeed. There's nothing like a little pressure to help someone get their act together.

Review: To "Spreadsheet monkey",
I'm not sure what kind of system you are using but it ain't a Mac! It is a virtually universal acknowledgement (even by Microsoft's Mac Business Development Unit) that Office for the Mac is superior to Office for the PC. You are correct to say that Access and Visio are not included. However Omni Graffle (Visio rival) and FileMaker Pro (Access rival) are available and in many ways superior in terms of features/power/and ease-of-use. I doubt you can name a single feature in Word, Powerpoint, or Excel on a PC that you can't do on a Mac. They are equivalent in most respects and the Mac version (because it is newer than the PC's version) has more features.

Review: I have personally never used a Mac, so can't comment on the differences with Windows. One thing is obvious that Microsoft has done an enormous job at promoting their products which Apple hasn't. Microsoft provided their OS free of charge or at a negligible price to schools; children grew up using Windows, that was the only OS they were familiar with and naturally preffered to use the system when they advanced to the corporate world as well as in their own personal lives. Talk about product placement!

Review: Apple offers not only the ability to use both operating systems but also the ability not get a virus. That alone Windows or not makes them superior machines!

Review: The big advantage of Macs over Windows is the perceived security and ease of use of OS/X. My days of using DOS-based PC's go back to 1985, but I bought my daughters Macs. Their experience and mine make it very likely that my next PC purchase will be a Mac as well !
