Review: I have been trying for days to come up with a domain name for my new business, but I have been seeing extreme repetition of individuals obtaining domain names and sitting on them, DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Some A%%*oles) even sit on domain names just to attract traffic and redirect it to their site. I CAN?T BELIEVE THAT NO ONE IS STOPPING THIS RUTHLESS BEHAVIOR AND DISREGARD FOR PROPER BUSINESS CONDUCT! What can I do? Or what can we do?

Review: The fact that GoDaddy is not the cleanest of all does not change the painful fact that most of the good domain names are used by link spammer or link profitors. See Coalition Against Domain Name Abuse http://www.cadna.org/

Review: A nonrefundable fee sounds like a easy fix for the problem. Preventing a buyer from re-registering for some period is probably less practical. But based on the statistics quoted, a small handling charge misght dry up the practice. Nice article.

Review: I think the biggest problem in domain name industry is with dropp catchers, where they pick and choose the domain name that get expired without allowing or giving a chance to the small guys. They sell them as low as $60 to as high as $10,000+ depending on the quality of the expired domain name.

Review: Cyber squatting, now that is laughable. Who owns the internet? It is squatting if you take residence on someone else's land or property.

Review: This was an interesting article. I can appreciate the problems that Bob has with losing money, but I think he may be rich enough already. While Bob is worrying about how to increase the depth of his pockets, the Internet is suffering under the crush of devestating botnet attacks that are a result of people like Bob being MIA from the Internet security discussion. Making Bob money is not part of that discussion and in this article, "abuse," is more of a misnomer than anything. Shame on Bob Parsons.

Review: You encourage similar activity right on your Web site. I would assume there are additional fees associated with a domain name registration, such as dues to ICANN, operational expenses, staff, etc. But your company sells domains at $1.99. Your company takes a loss on every new domain order. But the real question is, why does GoDaddy do this? Readers take note; every domain registered at GoDaddy goes to a pay per click (PPC) monetization page where GoDaddy profits from the click-through advertisements. So, Bob-- your company is in the domain monetization business just like the folks you are advocating against. As I see it, the only difference between the participants in the Add/Drop monetization program and the GoDaddy monetization program is who profits the most. In the final analysis both business models do exactly the same thing, one manipulated, and one market driven. Both accomplishing the same goal.

Review: Interesting article. The mini-industry that has sprung up around this is now worth millions. On the registry end, registries end up carrying full freight for a large volume of requests for creates-deletes of domains.

Review: Bob, If you want to make adverse comments about other registrars why don't you start by explaining the following; On GoDaddy's Web Site you are auctioning off names that clearly are capitalizing on well known trademarked names, not mispellings, such as Google, as an example - googleadd.com,or googleNHL.com, for a total of 243 names with Google in the domain name. It lookslike there are 38 names with the word Yahoo included such as yahoomusicunlimited.com. 80 names with Disney in the domain name,i.e. disneyimagination.com (wow cheap at $50,000!) 41 domain names with Honda included - hondaofnorthamerica.com ($10,000). Let's not forget NASCAR with 84 available names, iPod included in 208 domain names, 11 with sears included in the names (craftsmansears.com)and ebay in 238 domain names. Why aren't any domain names available for sale that include godaddy in the domain name?
