Review: The discussion in this nutshell is a micro of our our macro current U.S. auto problem; disinformation is no longer a secret, or desirable in a nation wearied sick of counterproductive cutthroats.

Review: I happened to just be reading about the Halo cars. I agree that the screwed up 3 better start trying to figure out why all there friggen plants are closing. I keep hearing here in Ohio that it's wages. Nonsensep! And I am not a disgrunted employee. I have had my own buisness for 25 years. I have a small car lot and in the last two years since the gas crunch I can sell a used Honda, toy as soon as I get them. I get about $3500 out of an '88 or '89 Accord if it has about 125,000 and is still in good shape. Try that with American crap. There is a Honda plant in Ohio that pays up to $22 an hour if you have 10 years in. So don't tell me it's wages. It's because someone is being paid $10 million to run the plant does not even know what is going on in the world of cars. Let me run their plants for two years and I'll have all the plants working and making money. I'll simply copy Honda and Roy and put our name on it. And give an 8-year full guarantee like Hyundai.

Review: This is the editor of the Autos channel. One reader wanted to know what is a "halo car": a halo car is a vehicle from a car maker that showcases the marques' most important features or design cues. These cars tend to be sportier or more expensive than the rest of the model line (the new Saturn Sky roadster is a good example). The idea is that these cars will attract favorable attention from the media, and attract buyers to the showrooms. Hope that helps. Thanks for reading BusinessWeek.com

Review: The new Mustang GT is truly a great (yet affordable) enthusiast car. Look over at blueovalforums dot com in the management thread- Kzinti was good for the mustang/great for Ford too- if you never heard of it, check it out.

Review: WHAT? OLDSMOBILE?? A DEAD MARQUE IF EVER I SAW ONE. Where are the exciting BMW's. The Z8 (an ultimate halo); the Z4, the Bangle-butted 7's and 5's and the new M6. My god, what blind man picked these things??

Review: I know it is a list of cars but why the Hummer H1 wasn't on the list is a huge oversite. The vehicle CREATED a whole brand that GM BOUGHT. BTW, can we please stop using the phrase "The Big 3" Chrysler hasn't been an American car company since Daimler saved them.

Review: So the halo concept is that I go into a Ford dealer with my heart set on a Ford GT, but I'm gonna drive out with a Taurus and not notice the difference? Halo cars are a PR gimmick, and I resent the idea that somehow they make me feel better about the crap on the dealer's showroom floor.
