Review: Check out New Majestic Hotel in Singapore (www.newmajestichotel.com). Just launched with 30 rooms uniquely interpreted by artists & designers. They hired specialists from Asian Art Options (www.asianartoptions.com) to curate the art -really cool stuff. There's this room sprouting psychedelic weeds (no doubt taking a mickey outta the nation's famous zero-tolerance for drugs) & another with anamorphic text messages decipherable only when lying on the bed or through the mirror. Pretty intelligent ideas. The Chinese sculptures in the restaurant are amazing. All this in a row of converted heritage shophouses (& they still managed to get a swimming pool on the 2nd floor with potholes looking into the restaurant below! Amazing!). I stayed at Sanderson & wondered why the ceiling paintings were so boring(& the same in each room).Schrager/Stark are brand names after all & somehow I can't shake off that chain hotel feel. For someone who travels as much as I do, gimme an interesting room anytime.

Review: Nice to see that Schrager is working with a former resident of the Hotel Chelsea, Julian Schnabel, to create a bohemian experience for the uber wealthy. www.hotelchelseablog.com

Review: Good article. I have actually stayed at Hotel Max (in Seattle) many times. The local art work is amazing and the hotel has a uniqueness and character that you don't find in many hotels these days. If interested, here is the Web site address: www.hotelmaxseattle.com
