Review: Keith was able to put in words what has been going through my mind all these years about the coaching/leadership abilities of Dr. Marv Dunphy and how he directed the Waves to win the 1978 NCAA Volleyball Championship. We all learned a great deal from Marv both on and off the court. Nice work Keith!

Review: Events can't build a team. The personal values of a manager and the reward system he or she applies will make or break a team. Managers who deal quickly with issues such as cronyism, sabotage, grandstanding, hiding key information from colleagues, and syndromes such as "not invented here" and "kill the messenger" will have teams where mutual trust flowers.

Review: First-tier teambuilding programs will not only bring these four points into focus but provide an opportunity to practice these principles with well-crafted problem-solving challenges. I became a little suspect of the inherent cynicism in this article with regards to what a properly facilitated teambuilding program can accomplish. Like the writer's volleyball team - great teams practice - being great at what they do - working better together through conflict, challenge, recognizing individual talents and arriving at shared solutions.

Review: Great article!
Know the goal.
Drill the basics.
Take the coaching.
The magic really happens when everybody feels responsible for the win and they play in real time.
