Review: SKYPE?? I "thought" (past tense) they were a great service. I used their service from 2005 to June 2009. There were minor bugs and issues, like bad connections sometimes, and then the dreaded "disconnect" after maybe 15 minutes or more of talking. This was one of the aggravating sides of SKYPE. But the most aggravating? CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS!!!! They do not have any phone support, nor do they have online chat support. It is all strictly email support. I sent in a support question for billing. I got a "generic" response. I wrote them back and guess what? The same response came back to me at least 3 times. I finally wrote my last reply saying, "What the heck! Am I talking to a robot here"?I went and bought a Magic Jack. Now I will NEVER have to deal SKYPE poor CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I'm all set for a year of free local and long distance No need for it to be a "Skype" phone either or any Voip phone. My cordless Ive had for maybe 5 years works like a charm. PERFECT SERVICE!
I can almost guarantee that Skype will go down before they ever rise above. The main reason being their customer support. One of the most important things for a business, which they lack desperately.

Review: Heywood: Wake up and smell globalization where China & India provide major market opportunities. Outsourcing is part of a commercial strategy to be efficient in operations which is the other side of that coin called globalization. Have you grown up or are you still talking about 'Outsourced Manufacturing' with your Mom using your cellphone-by the way..is made in China or Taiwan :P

Review: The voice quality/lag of Skype and Vonage is poor. For a better option try Freshtel (www.freshtel.net), they also have done a major deal with Tesco (www.tescointernetphone.com)in the UK and word is they will do something with a large player here shortly. You will be able to purchase a VoIP device from the supermarket (e.g Wal-Mart). Pretty good hey!

Review: @Heywood: Don't think they'd be taking tech jobs if enough people actually went to college in the U.S. Hell, let's start with high school.

Review: I just downloaded Skype a few weeeks ago and I have to say to those who say it isn't easy to use, well, they're dead wrong. It's super easy to use and obviously extremely cheap. With free Skype out calls and with Skype in only costing $30 for a whole year--as aposed to 40$ per month for a regular land line--I'm saving a ton, not to mention the $60 I save each month on my cell phone bill. So I don't care what anyone says, it's awesome and you can't beat the savings. I hope their profits start to increase to keep it around for a long time!
