Review: I agree that Toyota and Honda aren't at the forefront of design, but cutting edge design isn't all. Anyone want a Thunderbird? As they say at Toyota, vanilla is still the best selling ice cream flavor in the world.

Review: Can someone explain to me how the Japanese can be "on the cutting edge of design" yet have the most vanilla styled cars on the market (Camry and Accord and Korean Sonata aka "Accord clone"). Sounds to me like they are on the cutting edge of boring if you combine both statements.

Review: GM has it work cut out for it. I agree that Toyota will probably stumble, it's quality if already falling across its lines (Ford Fusion recently beat Camry in JD Power) but it is far easier to avoid mistakes when you are growing, than having to intelligently shrink a company and get into new segments, like GM and Ford are having to do.

Review: The biggest problem that GM faces right now is maneuvering the GM juggernaut. It is just about the same as changing the course of a very large ship. GM will need a lot of restructuring and reengineering before they can do a complete turnaround.

Review: I work for GM in India, and things here look quite rosy. However we feel that an overpaid, old top management with few ideas and a product portfolio where you need to own a petrol station to tank up is not very good in the long term. Also there is no focus on building more efficient cars. The SUV boom is over.

Review: Two words: Carlos Ghosn. GM needs more profit and do it by selling more cars. They can sell more cars by increasing quality and give them real style at a competitive price. In order to make them competitively priced, they need to work with their suppliers. It's all in Ghosn's book....

Review: People who don't work in the auto industry should not speak like experts. GM has really cool cars that would challenge Toyota. Look, what goes up comes down. In the near future, Toyota will come down.

Review: The biggest problem GM is facing right now is the rising gas prices which got most SUV drivers more curious about buying bigger cars. With gas prices GM's biggest competitor right now and in the months to come, GM will end the year above par and with a small profit.

Review: The only real turnaround will happen with advancements in transferring to alternative energy (fuel cell, electricity, hybrids etc). Unfortunately, most of us are still too immature to understand the consequences of use and dependence on oil. SUVs are the reason why driving is no more fun.

Review: Sometimes no loss is the first sign of gain. Is that right with GM for first quarter? They should build on the momentum they are gathering with first quarter results. Better late then never. Go GM, make a comeback.
