Review: I have been picked as a finalist for the San Francisco 2006 event and I feel very honored and grateful for the opportunity to participate. I read the comments of the women that missed the deadline and wanted to share the path that led me to this contest. In 2005 I attended my second WLE (www.womensleadershipexchange.org) event and met the first Make Mine a $Million winners. While I was at the event, I joined NAWBO (www.nawbo.org) and applied for their scholarship for the MDE Program (http://www.anderson.ucla.edu/mde.xml). I won a scholarship and discovered that I needed to fine-tune my plan for funding the growth of my company, Active Port. That is how I stumbled across Make Mine a $Million. I suggest practicing the process of seeking capital a long time before you actually need it to find your strengths and areas of improvement from the eyes of a banker and/or investor. Good luck!

Review: This concept is powerful! When we understand that "we are all one" and when one succeeds we all, in a sense, succeed, then the flow of positive energy is in motion and the momentum is sustained. This way of thinking (and yes, abundance is a way of thinking) breeds more (law of attraction) and helps us move beyond barriers! I need assistance in a particular effort and wand to offer assistance by transferring powerful branding strategy to those who need to elevate their brands...it is all a beautiful give and take cycle!

Review: I am a new small business owner (March 2006) and while doing research on organizations which support women in business, I came across Count Me In and Make Mine a Million. I entered in the contest and now my declaration is one of the 2,000 through this program that have been sent out to friends, family and collegues. So far, knowing I made that committment has kept me motivated to push as hard as I can. I only have 3 1/2 years... so I gotta move quick! But at least I know I'm supported! - Lisa

Review: Oh, no. I just happened upon your site and missed the submission deadline. What a tremendous opportunity to sow seeds of success into the lives of women business owners. I wish all of the 2006 competitors the best success and plan to enter the competition next year.

Review: So some businesses reach the 1 million goal. What happens to competitors? Do their businesses drop perhaps below the goal? It appears that the promoters think the market is unlimited and a small operation can just decide to cleverly sell more widgets. Perhaps the promoters are attempting to become a million-dollar business. In my opinion this whole "effort" is asinine.

Review: Thank you and congratulations on getting the word out on this program. Women can lead the way when they "look for apppropriate sources of funding." Rather than taking capital from intermediaries (male-dominated and reactionary) they can use direct public offerings to share ownership with people who believe in them and their business.

Review: As an artist, designer, I have a small business for the second year trying to take my business to the next level. As I was reading the article, I could not agree more about the obstacles: adequate mentoring, money, marketing!
I would love to grow my business to $1 million.
