Review: The article states that ethanol is less efficient than gasoline. What is the measure of efficiency used? FlexFuel vehicles are not set up for ethanol useage. They are simply gasoline burning engines with computers tor retard or advance the ignition timing for the respective fuel slected. Etahnol has an octane of 130, requiring a compression ratio of 13 to 1. Most FlexFuel vehicle are 9 to 1. FlexFuel vehicles are a bandaid approach by a dishonest auto industry with it's head lodged firmly up big oil's rectum. As to production efficiency, consider the human, material and financial resources that go into the exploration for, the drilling, transportation and refining of, and finally protection of petroleum. With ethanol, no wells need to be drilled. No supertankers need to transport. And no American soldiers need to die to keep it flowing. As to thermal efficiency, consider that it is not heat that powers a combustion engine, it is the energy of the exploding fuel. Drag racers have used alchol's superior horesepower potential for decades.

Review: Import your car from Brazil. GMC and VW have compacts that take 100% alcohol - Read National Geographic of this month for more info. Ethanol really makes sense but all those companies that did their R&D on Hydrogen will not like you to know about it until they recover their money.

Review: Ethanol can create more corrosion within a fuel system since it's hygroscopic (attracts water). A reasonable ethanol or dual-fuel system should be made entirely of stainless steel, with the ability to rid itself of water. It's likely from some of the stories that this is not what we're getting. More facts needed.

Review: Actually the Indy 500 was all ethanol this year. They decided to switch to help promote ethanol.

Review: The previous writer was incorrect to say that Indy 500 cars run on ethanol; they actually run on Methanol, which is different and even higher octane than ethanol. Never-the-less, it is wonderful to see ethanol finally catching on. My only complaint is that it seems all the E85 vehicles Detriot offers are large cars or trucks. What about those of us who just want a truly efficient, environmentally friendly car?? I suppose we'll have to stick to our foreign cars if we want to save money at the pump...

Review: Cool, it seems my '05 Avalanche will take E85 and there is a station close that has it. I'd be happy to use it, especially if they'd drop the tariff on it so the price comes down. Right now, it seems to be pretty close in price with unleaded, and if it gets less MPG, then forget it.

Review: All I have to say is thank god people are waking up to the growing problem. And it should even go more--like heating and a/c in your homes. Solar for people in the south. I'm not trying to start anything big, but I would like people to stop thanking of just themselves and do the right thing for the benefit of everybody and their country. Like J.F.K. said: Think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. (Make Made In The U.S.A. mean something again!) P.S. We have everything in this country. We do not need to look over to France to see what others can do for us. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Review: Don't you think it's very strange that gas was suppose to go way up past $3 and then E85 comes out and gas just dropped within a week to $2.30? America is not the same anymore. It seems like it is going in the wrong direction based on lies and that makes me sad =(

Review: I've been looking to buy or lease a new car or truck. E85 has been uppermost in my mind in getting one. It may get less miles to the gallon but it's worth it to stick it to the Middle East and South American countries.
