Review: SaaS is the way to go. If you are not doing it, chances are your competitors are. Low cost, yet unprecedented productivity that generates revenue is driving the use of SaaS. For small business, this is a gift. I hope Microsoft Dynamic ERP will soon join the ranks.

Review: So APIs aren't what they could be. If the software and the development process are both adaptive, people will bet on the come. Another factor here? Word of mouth. It has got to be playing a major role with happy users significantly outweighing detractors.

Review: On Demand software is terrific. On Demand CRM software is very appealing. However, the weakness of salesforce.com and its On Demand competition is that while they are absolutely fabulous at the sales end of the business they are very lacking in the operational end of the business. The key areas for our company are integration with the Help Desk, integration with a bug tracking system, integration with Finance, integration with aspects of our On Demand software product. The key is that saleforce.com needs to beef up their APIs to other products (bi-directional) to facilitate highly customized operational systems.

Review: I agree with content of this article. Most enterprise software usage percentages are less than 30% as end user tasks do not revolve around software/IT
However, Honda has been using an IBM tool to track each enterprise application productive usage for more than 10 years now. The tool tracks the time a user logs and exits. The accumulated productive time of all users is consolidated for revenue
Probably this is the method to go for enterprise software to counter on-demand applications

Review: This article and the previous one about NetSuite's dashboards read like an informercials. Did Salesforce.com's PR team write this?
"Sunset Companies" and "IronPort Systems" -- let's see a few quotes from recognizable companies that Salesforce.com splashes all over its website. What does Cisco have to say about their 9 month delay in deploying such an "easy" solution?
Look at the total number of users and revenues for these companies now that they've been around for several years. Compare them to other Silicon Valley success stories in business software or other sectors. SFDC and its brethren have really made only a small impact.
The real story here is how much hype Salesforce.com has been able to get the press & analysts to swallow. Incredible!

Review: Software as a service, subscription software services, application service providers, hosted application services--whatever you call it, it's the wave of the future, especially for the SMB market. But it will penetrate big companies as well. Data security, network reliability, and performance are the only major obstacles and they seem to have been largely overcome.
