Review: News Corp is doing what it has to do to prepare for the new media era. Acquisitions are great but hopefully they know what they are building. And building takes effort. Integration might be challenging. All the best to everyone.

Review: Other part of the News Corp story you may have overlooked: investment, not just acquisition. Most recently, instead of doing an outright buy, News Corp invested in my former vertical search engine startup SimplyHired.com. Investing in promising new startups would appear to be a relatively new component to the News Corp / FIM strategy, and might indicate a more leveraged / hedged Internet strategy than simply buying companies. It would enable them to both 1) make moves at lower overall cost, and 2) further complement core acquisitions with relevant startup tools, services & features. (Full disclosure: I'm also an angel investor in Simply Hired).
