Review: To the list of the best and everlasting designs, I'd add the umbrella. Its origins are so far in the past (more than 1500 years ago, in ancient China) and it's still the same. That is what we call a perfect design!

Review: To my knowledge, Triumph never made a V-twin engine, let alone the iconic Bonneville, of which I have had two. As for the famous tank shape, even Triumph has bumbled this one! The one in the photo is very rare and not the one that should have been used. Recent models of Triumph have tried to mimic the original shape and failed and have caused much head-scratching. How hard could it be to reproduce your own classic tank anyway?

Review: Hello, this is Reena Jana, the writer of this story. Thanks for the observations and comments. We've informed Phaidon Press of the discrepancies regarding identifying the engines as "V twin." Also, please note that we (and Phaidon) don't indicate that Harley Davidson made "V twin" engines nor do we illstrate Harley Davidson bikes in the slide show. The point, as documented in Phaidon's publication, is that Harley Davidson re-adjusted their own designs to compete with Triumph's bikes after Triumph's success with the lightweight engine.

Review: The Triumph Bonnevilles have parallel twin, not v-twin engines. Also, (dunno if that's your picture, or from the authors) the bike pictured looks like a somewhat less iconic '70s model.

Review: The Triumph T120 Bonneville is erroneously described as a V-Twin. It is actually a parallel twin design. Harley-Davidson has never built a parallel twin motorcycle.

Review: *ahem* the Triumph is no "V" twin. A V-twin denotes a motor that has the pistons operating at an opposed angle from vertical. Look at pictures of the HD's you mention.

Review: Thank you for the comment on the Apple Macintosh's design credit. The designer attribution (Hartmut Esslinger/frogdesign) was supplied by Phaidon Press, as published in the book Phaidon Design Classics.

Review: Jerry Mannock designed the original Apple Macintosh, not Mr. Esslinger/Frogdesign - a common error that few correct.
