Review: If after all these years and all the money spent, they still don't have a growing, solidly profitable business, I have to question their fundamental strategy.

Review: The author states that: "...the company is investing heavily to develop so-called Web services that help merchants and others tap into its massive e-commerce systems so they can sell products and services on Amazon.com or their own Web sites."
Amazon "associates" (merchants and others) number about a million and are responsible for 30% of Amazon's sales.
Amazon's Web services program has been around since 2002.
Currently, Google and Yahoo are pushing hard to implement similar Web services programs.
