Review: Our company buys Dell desktops and builds Opteron servers and workstations. Dell (Intel chips) for cheap at the desktop, Opteron for performance in critical resources.
We're holding off on further Dell (Intel) purchases until this fall, hoping for something much better than our current generation of power hungry PIV desktops with noisy fans. We will, of course, also evaluate whether Intel is competitive again in the high priced applications, as we are not married to any solution, we just want to maximize resources.
