Review: I agree it is a short seller's dream. It may tank, but not before the intial hype gives substantial return for the short seller. I would never want ads on my phone, but Netzero is still around. They may even last a long time, but if they do I think eventually it will end up not being completely free (or they will pull another Ngage Gizmo scandal). Either way, by that time the short seller should have made his move.

Review: Their new COE is Allan Brown. Is this the same Allan Brown that resigned in shame from Simon Worldwide after they rigged the McDonalds promotion? If so, it looks like he's in good company with the Gizmondo crowd.

Review: Virgin today announced an ad-based model where they are giving free airtime in exchange for ad viewing. Looks like with an installed based of well over 3,000,000, a recognized brand, a proven management team, and a real business model, Virgin beat Xero.

Review: Analogies to Skype, eBay, Google, PayPal are all misguided. Look at the more appropriate analogies of advertising subsidized businesses. There is not a single success story. Just a waste of investor money. Think FreePC, FreeISP, Juno, etc.

Review: According to recent reports, most of the team behind the failed mobile games console Gizmondo have shown up in the US of A. The list includes Richard Clayton, Peter Lilley and David Levett. They're all involved in a new venture called Xero Mobile. The rumor is that Xero Mobile will implement an old idea -- mainly that cellular airtime will be doled out for free as long as the subscribers don't mind being bombarded with adverts for the privilege.

Review: Icon: Carrying around a free phone filled with annoying ads will make you the icon of all paupers of the world. What college kid wants to give up their personal information and be annoyed with irrelevant, obtrusive, obnoxious ads--all for a free minute? Air time pricing is coming down so much that this is a silly exchange, except for those dumb enough, or not image conscious enough to want this silly product. I'm looking forward to the pump-and-dump scam that these guys are used to running.

Review: College guy: That is why you are still in college. You speak without fact. You definitely must be a frat boy with your image comment. First off, Xero phones will be twice as cool as your Razr. Your Razr is old news. Second, for all you people with a negative outlook, continue to pay attention to this company. I think it is going to surprise you in a big way. The written press about the people behind this is 90% inaccurate.

Review: So is this true? It's been reported that all of the Xero Mobile's employees have fled the office. The landlord came in on Friday to find them packing. http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/2006/03/15/xero-mobile
