Review: Russia's characteristic paranoia plays true to form. I so wish they'd find thier stride. The West needs a confident, competent Russia.

Review: Thank you for the article. The problem in Russia is sad and obvious. However, foreign affairs with visa issuing are very opaque. No one in the British or US ambassy would explain to the Russian businessman why he is undesirable and why he was stopped from visiting their countries. There are a lot of these cases.

Review: Great article. As one who has been involved with Russia for more than a decade, my philosophy is always to recognize that "nothing is ever quite what it seems" and that I have no choice but to apply Western analysis and logic to each situation, but that the understandings reached by that analysis will likely end up being flawed. I congratulate you for your fine analysis of this situation and your willingness to actually put it forth.

Review: No surprises here. Obviously Mr.Browder's company being a big player in the Russian market is seen as a threat to someone's commercial interests. It is sad but true that with enough cash in your pocket you can buy any decision you want from the Russian authorities. There is no such a thing as "the rule of law" in Russia but rather "the rule of money and corruption".
