Review: I think this partnership is too late. Alienware is no longer the cool brand it once was, Dell has slipped, and the retail market producers are building systems to meet most users' needs now. Best Buy carries Velocity Micro gaming systems in stores, and Velocity has won far more awards in the PC press over the past few years than Alienware has. The AW boat sailed, and Dell's barge is picking up the shipwrecked survivors. That's why they are not going public with the selling price.

Review: I am interested in what people think and not what analysts suggest so that their representative companies do well with their market caps. The point is, when you buy a PC, you want to buy a quality PC at its best price. To say that now you want to buy a Mac or Dell or whatever PC you desire, does not say much for what the PC maker's intention is. Dell buying Alienware doesn't change Dell's situation. They are stuck with Intel chips. What are you going to do? Wait till Intel produces a chip that's comparable to AMD's? Or, you are going to buy a Mac computer because you are tired of Dell. Why? Mac computers now use Intel chips. Apple needs market share. They will lose quality just like Dell did. I don't think Dell's purchase of Alienware will have anything to do with the way they run their business. Andy Grove forced Intel to make good chips. He left a while ago. Buy quality at the best available price.

Review: Alienware is a complete waste of time and money, especially the gaming laptops. Started ordering for our small company and every single product has issues. For example: I sent back a single stick of memory 4 times before I got one that passed MemTest+ memory tests and booted properly. I felt I needed to get this out there. When you call tech support for Alienware they send you to South America, where they jerk you around till your warranty is up then say not our problem. They also stole a copy of Office 2003 from me when I sent a system back for replacement. I ask you, what the heck is that about? Dell (servers/pc/laptops) has never let me down one single time.

Review: Of course Dell bought Alienware in order to offer AMD machines! Now when a customer calls up Dell demanding an AMD CPU they can be referred to their Alienware subsidiary rather than losing a sale to HP. Dell apparently thinks Intel won't retaliate, and given Intel's very weak position they're probably right. After AMD's Fab36 is fully ramped and Chartered is delivering AMD CPUs, then they'll have the capacity to supply Dell proper. Assuming existing customers HP, Lenovo and Acer don't soak up that additional supply first. He who hesitates is lost, Mikey.
