Review: Marcus Ludwig was the store manager of walmart in modesto that I sued because of his hostility towards some of his employees. I was vindicated and though that walmart was not the nicest place to work, I agree other walmarts do have hardworking people trying to make a living. So even though I choose not to shop there, I appreciate the hardworlking people who are trying to do their best.

Review: These comments are so funny. Most of the people that complain about Walmart and the way it takes care of its people have never had to be concerned about how to support their family or worry about much, I would bet. I have worked for Walmart and thought the wages were good as well as the benefits, but we all should know the bad word spreads fastest. It never occurs to anyone that prices may be low because they buy in such quantity and don't mark it up as much as your "average" store I suppose. And, sadly enough, the small business man is a extinct beast anyway, and that you can blame the consumer for, not the corporate giants. We choose where we shop.

Review: It never ceases to amaze me the arrogance of the "upscale" consumer. If they are so bad, why do you buy anything there? (You have Walmart items?) In my opinion, they will do just like any other grocery or retail chain. They will have the upscale stores for the appropriate areas and the regular stores for their b&b customers. You know the only way to change things is to stick to your guns! If you don't like a company don't support it!

Review: Wal-Mart is again making changes. I loved this store but will not shop here again. They are removing the photo studios and are putting in a SubWay instead of the coffee shop that I have been bringing my mom to every morning. Shame on Wal-Mart for changing the new approach only a few months after opening.

Review: Well, I just visited this so-called new Wal-Mart. Although it is somewhat nice inside, the problem is that the employees are still Wal-Mart employees. Not really that friendly. Also, it is located in a very upscale neighborhood which is not Wal-Mart's demographic area. The store seemed pretty dead for a Supercenter. The only thing that my wife and I liked was the Kicks Coffee Cafe, although I have no clue as to why such a nice coffee shop is inside a Wal-Mart. The rest of the store is still the same: photo studio, hair salon (which was closed at 6:30 PM, which may be an indication that this store is not doing very well). We went to the Kicks Coffee website to see if they had any other locations besides this one, and apparently they are getting ready to expand. I agree with other posters here that the last thing we want to do is make Wal-Mart bigger.

Review: I go to this Wal-Mart frequently because it is convenient, and on the right side of the street, but I always end up across the street to Target because this new Wal-Mart has terrible selection. There are so few choices, that almost always it is a waste of time-and I feel like I have to "make do" with the limited options if I only have time to go to Wal-Mart.

Review: I shop at Wal-Mart for what I call "Wal-Mart items," i.e., paper towels, bathroom tissue, toiletries, and the occasional electronic or lightbulb. Still, I've little interest in making the world's biggest retailer "bigger!" The new, upscale, Plano Wal-Mart is pleasant, but for what I go to Wal-Mart for, I don't really care! No, I don't believe it's a "nice" corporation; but then, neither is Proctor & Gamble. That's the nature of the beast! Stop giving them your money if you don't like it!

Review: Wal-Mart is a corporate pirate and thief. Their prices are low because wages and benefits are beyond the pale in terms of bad. Will someone be able to stop their monopoly on the U.S. retail market?

Review: I think that Wal-Mart may be on to something in terms of reaching out to attract a slighly broader range of shoppers. The wine selection is pretty good and me and my wife actually brought our laptops in and used the free Wi-Fi that is offered by the Kicks Coffee Cafe inside. I don't know much about who Kicks is, but we sure did enjoy our time inside their coffee shop. We think it will do great and Wal-Mart seems to be choosing the right people in helping them improve upon their image.

Review: A very important move for Wal-Mart in trying to increase market share in the burbs. Thousands of affluent households line the corridor extending north along the Dallas Parkway. In fact, the new store's neighbors (living in houses near the $1 million mark) protested the store and tried to recall the Plano mayor, not knowing this wouldn't be a typical Wal-Mart. Consumers should be happy that Wal-Mart is trying to find ways to improve their stores. Investors should see this as a first strike on Target. If it can succeed in as fickle a place as Plano (also the home of the most successful Best Buy store), then Target will need to stay on its toes.
