Review: The protectionism in China will hamper the competitiveness in its telecom industry . It will do nothing good but hold the consumers hostage - Chinese have to pay more for their long distance phone calls.

Review: China has to open her telecom market ultimately. It is an inevitable trend.Like the competitive telecom markets in U.S. or HK. Though serious competition will be overwhelming, chinese telecom companies should set their own competitive advantages to confront the strong foreign rivals, not just relying on the support of Chinese government. How to be innovative and provide high-quality technology may be the point.

Review: VoIP companies like Skype, and other companies that include similar forms of communications via their Instant Messenger, are fighting an impossible-to-win battle against the dictator and censoring govt of the Chinese Communists. I don't see these services adopted to the degree they are elsewhere. And if they are, Skype will be forced to drop their encryption so the govt will be able to eavesdrop and make sure their citizens are not communicating anti-communist thoughts, or making contact with individuals outside their country. Sad, sad, sad.
