Review: Enough about Katrina. I lived in New Orleans in '67 & '68. At that time the locals all talked about the problem, and if you had the money, you lived in Metairie. It was common know- ledge that it was not if, but when. No administration wanted to fix the problem until a disaster happened, and simply passed it on to the next admin. Sounds typical of every aspect the government is involved in.

Review: How much is FEMA paying for mobile homes? The prices sound insane is Dick Cheney a shareholder? One can purchase a new mobile home for much less in Ohio. Katrina Cottages may be the incentive for us to move back to Florida.

Review: I'd like to comment on the $35,000 for 300 square foot of floor space per house to be developed in New Orleans. Well I would be able to build a 4 bedroom house for that price and more, and I have contacted FEMA before with no reply. Plus my designs are flood proof.

Review: A few pictures of a "Katrina Cottage" would have been nice. Maybe fewer pictures of the Jaguar XK. What on earth is that huge gap between the front end cowl and the hood?

Review: I hope the Katrina Cottage design will be endorsed by Congress. We have such a beautiful city, which the FEMA trailors would spoil for years to come. I think we should put it to a vote!

Review: I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for additional info as it comes available on Marianne Cusato's design, and was extremely glad to see even further info on this and other designs. I am eager to find out more on these house concepts as well as the "Builder's Square" that is being developed for display. I have property on the Gulf Coast and will be returning to help family and community as soon as possible. I will be needing affordable housing for myself and know of many single and/or elderly people who this would benefit from several points of view (i.e. space needs, financial standing, property constraints). Please keep us informed as more develops on this issue.

Review: The Katrina Cottage should have taken the place of each FEMA trailer. The cottages are safe and reliable. New Orleans has suffered enough from death. It is time to focus on our safety.

Review: I wish the story had included pictures of both the "Katrina Cottage" and the LRA cottage. Will these cottages meet the new building codes for New Orleans and the Gulf Coast? Will owners be able to finance these with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae? Housing is perhaps the most critical issue now, following only the levees and bridge repair. Will there be a federal program to address this directly?
