Review: Some think that when the Revo comes out, Nintendo will stop Gamecube games.

Review: Here's a thought. Since there are so many features and there are concerns about end users learning how to use them all, how about packaging a DVD on all the features with the PS3? The end user would pop in the DVD, select the feature they want to learn about from a menu and get video on the feature and how it's used. There can be some FAQs and even a link to get more updated information (presuming the end user has an Internet connection)?
It would be a great approach for the I-don't-have-time-to- read-a-Dummie's-book generation, as well as those who learn better visually. It can even be interactive by downloading itself to the HD and telling the user "now do this" when the user wants to try a feature. A mini arcade style or solitaire/hearts game can also be added to get users familiar with the controllers. Some songs can be added to the DVD so the user can simulate downloading music from a Web site and playing it. Even information on additional add-ons can be put on the DVD!

Review: Murmurs from my Japanese correspondents told me to expect the launch price of about US$500. It is not going to be cheap.

Review: I will be buying a PS3 when it comes out based on the quality of the previous two releases. I bought my PS2 on the day they released in North America, and I still use it to watch movies and play games on to this day. I have never had a disc read error, or any errors. At one point it had been left on for 5 days straight till a memory card could be replaced to save a game.

Review: I was hoping to get an Xbox 360 once the PS3 came out but it doesn't look like that will be the case. Microsoft has a great opening here; they can come out with the next gen Xbox a couple years ahead of PS3 replacement since they will already be a year ahead. Go XBOX.
(I really loved the PS1 & PS2 until I got the original Xbox, but the graphics really leave no comparison.)

Review: Something missed in mainstream reporting is that a worldwide launch by the end of the year is a positive surprise for most in the games community. No one who actually keeps an eye on the industry was expecting PS3 before the end of the year in the US, and many considered it certain that Europe would only see it in 2007.
The standardisation of the HDD has also been getting positive buzz. By the looks of it, it certainly should be worth the wait - as long as it's not exceptionally expensive. I think $500 would be a very good price for everything you're getting - there'll be Blu-ray players over twice that price, that for Blu-ray playback alone will not be as good as PS3 - PS3 won't be a "poor man's Blu-ray player" when it's sporting 1080p support and next-gen HDMI compliance, things which many of the early players can't boast.

Review: Is this any real surprise? With the last few console launches (Sony or otherwise), when hasn't the system been released in October/November? It's possible the spring release was all just hype to get people excited about the machine, sure it cost them some stock dollars but it will more than make up for them now that everyone knows it is coming out "just in time for the holidays!" Give us a break and just release the darn thing in November like you always have done.

Review: One thing this article doesn't touch on is that Kutaragi also stated that developers would receive the finalized Dev Kits in June. Considering the complexity of the PS3's architecture, it will be interesting to see just how many quality games will be available for a November launch. We also need to remember that Sony has had numerous quality issues in the past; 100 million PS2s may have been sold, but many of those were purchased by people replacing a worn out PS2. I myself, despite keeping my games in a smoke-free, high-ventilation, low-moisture environment have had to replace my PS2 four times since it rolled out in 2000, all due to the well documented "Disc Read Error". If I'm paying $500, this had better no longer be an issue.

Review: I think they should just skip the PS3 and go for the PS4 after all this wait.

Review: I think the better question is whether parents are going to shell out $500 for a game system. Sure, it plays all your other stuff but you know that those same people already own a computer. I like that they didn't coment on the delay of final specs to developers, rather it was a problem with IP protection. Sure it was.
