Review: Ed is too old school to take AT&T into the information age. T's employees are treated like property, just examine any office of T and you will find few worker amenities yet T's success is built upon the worker's backs. GRR used to be my signon for SBC before I retired after a direct quote from a third line: "Stress is a personal issue you take care of on your own time". His response to "Wired" mag's article on work campus amenities of top companies. Use them up and spit them out is what I heard and then comlain about rising health care stress related costs! Old school in a new world -- the fabric will tear. Randall G

Review: Having the communications industry splintered between a lot of players impacts the USA's ability to compete more globally. Some consolidation is critical to our country having a superior place in this global economy.

Review: Good article. I think the deal will go through and ATT will be a formidable competitor against Verizon and the cable giants. It is a rapidly changing business...

Review: AT&T dead money???? Short sighted people with short sighted ideals make short sighted decisions. When you look at the people who actually work at AT&T for "uncle ED" you need to add in some more factors. We, the employees, make this company work, yes we have problems but we resolve them, our biggest advesary is the legalistic nonsense and red tape loopholes. If you get out of our way we'll show you how to provide all access communications & media at a great price to all the customers. We don't cherry pick like cable, we don't deny profits like our legislatively enhanced competition. We do our best to do our jobs. We will prove you wrong, dead money? No, dead thinking.

Review: I was an employee of Ameritech before it was obsorbed by SBC Comm. SBC now called AT&T has more experience melding companies together effectively than any other company in the US. It has added over the years Pacific Telesis, Ameritech, SNET, AT&T wireless, AT&T, and others and now it will add BellSouth. If there is any company that can do this well it is AT&T. No one is more experienced in this area than the team from AT&T(SBC). Remember this is not the old AT&T that bought cable and computer companies, this is the new AT&T, Texas style.
