Review: It was all in due course for HSBC to expand its market presence. It has made emerging markets a target, and now, with extra infrastructure spending, it's gearing up to gain share in investment banking. Congrats to HSBC. I give them full marks. Still, caution is in order when extending into a new arena with toys that haven't been tested.

Review: I think it would be a mistake if HSBC tries to move into the sphere of the very competive banking environment in the U.S. HSBC should stick to its original plot to capitalize on the growing trade links between Europe and China. I wish HSBC and Hong Kong the best of Bristish luck.

Review: A good trend, especially considering that the US 'bulge' bracket has dominated in this area. HSBC is capitalizing on increased M&A and private equity deals in Europe, and that's good for the bank and the region.
