Review: "I can not use a computer, I do not believe in a computer, I never try it," says Chen, in an interview.
I do not believe that "The Promise" really cost the production company 35 millions USD. In China, there would be almost no way to be caught if you want to tell the media a phony number. The media does not care. One proof is that in a close-up view of a blade in the movie, we can see clearly it is made of wood, but metal.

Review: I do not like Chen and his movie very much and I think it is very boring to see that movie, wasting my time. My time would be better spent hanging around the street; On the other hand, the ticket is very expensive so I do not understand why there are so many people who have seen it!
Boring!

Review: Two points:
1. Chen is far from being a true artist, too much masquerade, his films (except the "Yellow Land", shot when he was still a freshman in the industry) were shouting to Chinese audience: "Shut up! You fools! And listen my words of wisdom" And the reasonable response from the intellectual audience is naturally a prevalent boycott;
2. BusinessWeek could have delved deeper, not treating the case as unique. It's a signal: a grass-root culture on the Internet is spreading with speed in China. Small potatoes can voice their views and get public attention. This, in turn, pushes democracy forward.

Review: This story is very fair. After I went to see the movie, I felt it was a waste of my time. So I have no choice but to support Hu Ge.

Review: there's a old chinese saying:
don't try to repair a stoneware without diamond tools, chen has forgotten it.
i heard a very sharp laugh when the chenkaige's name project on the screen on the end of the movie, why? because the audience think chen is a mad man, such a rubbish movie sell 80 yuan a ticket, what's the matter with chen and his wife?!

Review: Dexter said "Much of Hu's parody uses footage from a pirated DVD of The Promise". Well, in the interview of Hu with jourlists, Hu DOES have legal copy of that DVD.
