Review: MOT !? what a winner that has been - NOT!, analysts have been hyping 3G for over six years. meanwhile commodity and energy stocks have made wirless stocks look like turtles. the portfolio managers that bought MOT, QCOM, TXN, etc., have had so much outflows that they already be in another line of work. 3G has been a bust because 2.5G works just fine AND there's overcapacity in the handsets and the guts (chipsets).

Review: The high-growth wireless segment is mobile data. 3G data networks can offer higher bandwidth for mobile enterprise and consumer applications. Devices like the KR 3G Phoebus mobile router (recently reviewed by David Pogue of NY Times) have great potential. I am using one myself with EVDO for Internet access in my office and home.

Review: The carriers have already said they are not interested in Slingbox. They want to sell their own TV services. Slingbox may have to wait for better Wi-Fi or Wi-Max coverage.

They are the "other" Qualcomm.
