Review: Interesting reading this many months down the road. This company is dead and made the worst trade it could have, at the worst time and paid much more than it should have - Hughes.
You must be from GE.

Review: Excessive executive pay is an issue. Directors should recognize this fact if they are truly "independent." I also advocate promotion from within the organization. Nobody knows this business better than those who have built sucessful careers with the company. As a longtime shareholder, I was disappointed that Nardelli was selected. I think Wall Street is too, given the stock price. HD does not need Park Avenue leadership as much as it needs the leadership of the working folks who have built this company. Career employees at HD won't say this on record, but I guarantee you they think it. They are disheartened when an "outsider" is brought in. Nardelli in an orange bib visiting the stores is helpful to create visibility, but does not suffice. Leadership culture flourishes when cultivated and utilized from within.

Review: I do not believe that HOME DEPOT has the right man in charge. Get someone from Wal-art or P&G to run the company. The stock has done nothing in the 5 years with Nardeli.

Review: Good solid article. I really appreciate an analyst stepping to the fore and mentioning excessive executive pay. Though an HD shareholder, I too feel that the pay offered to top management is not only excessive but borders on the vulgar (and I vote this belief every time a proxy statement comes around). Thanks again for the report.
