Review: Look for Sara Lee to implement a completely fresh approach to retailing and brand loyalty in mid-size cities across America.

Review: The lastest SLE quarterly report included assurances that everything was "on track" for 12% earnings growth in 2010. Where are the numbers? Even if some data exist that is encouraging, does Mrs. Barnes expect investors to give her and her new hires a five-year honeymoon while they "transform" SLE?

Review: Ms. Barnes has her work cut out for her. However, I feel some people aren't going to give her a chance. She makes a lot of money but do people remember how much her predecessor made, even when the ship was sinking? (As a former employee, I certainly remember!) The new Jimmy Dean ads are great and hopefully future advertising for well-known products will be even better.

Review: The article made no mention of the 3 years it took to get change at Jimmy Dean...how long will investors and Wall Street wait for change on the other 5 businesses? Has Mrs. Barnes even hired leaders who know how to drive change and grow 'aged assets'?

Review: More of the same at Sara Lee - big talk and no output. There is too much strife in that organization for it to come out a winner. Brenda has done what every other person charged with turning around Sara Lee has done, promptly run the institutional talent and knowledge out the door for her own team. Good luck. I saw this happen twice in my time at that company's food division, both to horrid results. Look for Cargill, Hormel or even Smithfield to come in with cash and start poaching brands once Brenda puts the ship on the rocks. This is meat, not Pepsi, so you gotta sell it or smell it!

Review: Sara Lee and the brand names have the confidence of the foodservice world, of which I am a part. I do agree that the food clubs are popular exposure for national brands and Sara Lee will grow sooner than later with such outlets.

Review: Brenda is out of touch with retail. Sara Lee has to get their brands and make deals in the major retail outlets. i.e., Costco, Wal-Mart, BJ's, and the like. This is where the volume will be. She has to embrace these people not tryo to outsell them elsewhere.
