Review: Have none of you heard or tried Dr Schulze's products?? Organic and wild harvested, they are phenomenal and yes he distributes his own stuff and you can buy online, from his botanical pharmacy. Also Apex (available only through a practitioner as well) or Dr. Bob Marshall's products??

Review: OK --- First off, they are the first industry to have such 'internet selling' restrictions. Lots of industries do this. We are a motorola two way radio dealer and we have restrictions on certain products in our lineup that we are not allowed to advertise on the internet. It is a control issue. The manufacturer has their reasons. Whether it is price control, or protecting their dealer network so that not just everyone is out there selling the stuff.
I am concerned about some articles I read on the internet http://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/lee.html about Std Process....
hmmmmmmm
somebody fill me in.

Review: The term "coercion" seems out of place when applied to Standard Process. Their products are every bit as technical to properly prescribe as drugs; maintaining a traditional approach to doctor-pt in these days of people rx'ing their own dope from tv might be too much to ask. I have practiced with their products for 30 years and need another practitioner to rx me. Take care.

Review: I am one of the alternative health practitioners you mention. Standard Process IS a very special company from bottom to top. Because of its success, its philosophy and its products, it has been a longtime target of the FDA. They never complain about it, but we specialists hear about it now and then sub rosa. I suspect that may be part of the reason it is choosing to do what it can to keep the doctor-patient relationship intact. I speak as one who has had the FDA in my office.

Review: In response to Dr. Bernie's comment about there not being another company that manufactures whole food nutrition, he is incorrect. NSA (National Safety Associates) in Memphis, TN is the maker of Juice Plus, a whole food product. 17 fruits and vegetables, plus rice bran and oat bran, in capsule, chewable or gummie form. The thing that sets Juice Plus apart from any other product is the gold-standard research behind it. Since 1993, this product has been researched by prominent medical centers and universities throughout the world. This research is ongoing. Juice Plus is food - nothing else. It's the next best thing to eating raw fruits and vegetables. It serves as a nutritional bridge between what we do eat for fruits and vegetables every day and what we should be eating (7-13 servings a day).

Review: As we all know, there is no all-fits-one scenario in this world, when it comes to the health of human beings. Therefore, I believe that, any legitimate reporter, newsman, because of their weight on the public perception is bound by the ethics of that profession. The reason is simple. The answer to whether, in this case, any arguement one way or another, is not valid until light on it's legitamacy potency and danger of mixing is determined. This will then reveal the answer of whether it's appropriate to order through a physician or the internet etc.

Review: My comment to the SP article. I am a certified Clinical Nutritional Consultant. I worked with a doctor. I recently left. I decided to go with another doctor's office in the same area. I called the Sp Rep in my area (Ga) to find out if there would be a problem with me changing to another doctor and setting up an account with the new doctor. He assured me that would be fine.I asked the Rep to hold off talking to the former dr. until I had a chance to talk to her. He talked to her anyway. According to him, she did NOT approve of me having an account so He would NOT allow it . He said this doctor was his best account and he did not want to upset that. If I went to another doctor he would "Shut Us Down!" I was also forbidden to go to anymore SP seminars because I would not be selling the products. He was the Rep and He made those decisions.
Frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!

Review: Having a degree in exercise science and having worked as a trainer for many years, I have had to deal with and scrutinize supplements regularly. My impressions and research into Standard Process assured me that this company manufactures high quality stuff (this is no comment on their efficacy). At least you are getting what you pay for here! They are fully disclosing their manufacturing methods and the contents of their products, something most supplement companies do not want you to know (and which nobody checks on thanks to the supplement industry lobbyists). I find their attitude about the selling of their products responsible, if somewhat inconvenient. The solution may be to establish something along the lines of the way online contact lens suppliers work: you can buy online but must submit your doctor's name and phone number to verify consultation/informal Rx. Give it a one year refill life without having to verify again.

Review: Dr. Bernie-
MANY companies make "food based vitamins," a marketing hype. One way, the SP way, is by taking standard USP vitamins (manufactured in laboratories by biochemical processes) and putting them in tablets or occasionally capsules with dried foods and herbs. Taking these vitamins is no different from taking standard vitamins with a meal (but a lot more expensive). SP will confirm this.
A second type of "food vitamin" is made by adding USP vitamins to a liquid broth containing yeast. The yeast is then killed in a drying process, and the residue is pressed into tablets with herbs, binders and manufacturing additives. The companies New Chapter and Megafood use this type of process.
The third kind of "food vitamin" supplements is products that are actually dried foods, pressed into tablets with the aid of additives. Because of size constraints, these products are always very low potency.

Review: I just read the Gumpert article. His argument has to do with convenience of sales and not quality of product. SP is the only nutrition company in the country, that I am aware of, that manufactures a whole food nutrient. Between 95% and 98% of all "nutrition" sold in this country is artificial junk and will not and cannot improve your health. Yes, a knowledgeable Dr. is required to properly assess your needs and prescribe the proper nutrient to restore your health to the best of your body's ability. As your health improves your doctor needs to reevaluate and re-recommend for your new health status. If not, then why did you go to your Dr. in the first place? You can always buy junk vitamins in the health food store or you can buy SP from your knowledgeable Dr. and restore your health. The choice is always in your hands. Make your choice wisely.
