Review: I suppose that I fit right into this article. I retired about a year ago from a long career in financial management in the corporate and higher education world. My hobby was golf, but not every day. So I decided to open a custom golf retail and repair shop and operate a driving range. While I have spent both time and money going to schools and learning the business, it's great to work with my hands. My old business skills are still used in the bookkeeping and communcations with customers. It has been a great way to combine my hobby with a rewarding fulfilling business.

Review: Entrepreneurship takes a certain personality type as well as the requisite business skills. It can also take a ton of money that many people in this downsizing and outsourcing economy don't have. What about them? How can those seniors "start over?

Review: After eight high-caliber sales positions in 14 years I found one common thread. The companies I worked with did not treat their clients with due respect. They did not celebrate their clients success and therefore had not established a loyal customer. Realizing such years ago, I began my own series of on-the-job experiments to groom my passion of personal interaction and professional sales instruction and artistic design. BusinessWeek's insightful writers helped me gain a nice marketshare of delightfully loyaly clients. Today, I am the boss and I am pursuing my life's ambitions, not merely working to satisfy anothers.

Review: I find it interesting that the segment of people I fit into is not represented in this article. Possibly it seems larger to me because I am there and know many others who are. Recent college graduates who are in Business School and are being shunned by existing corporations (high school dropouts are cheaper sure, but I need cash too). I am looking to start a business because I cannot find work and because I think I'll be successful. RE: Nickname: 73 Champ Review: Maybe some one could prompt me to help them start a business. I have noticed no muffler shops in Folsom/Cameron Park area where I live. I have looked at commercial rentals in this area and prices are reasonable. This is just me thinking out loud. Champ 73. I'm looking to start a dealership but was planning on existing location for my first experiences. Look into SCORE and the SBA Web site. Good resources for someone like me, who depends on someone like you. Paragon

Review: I have recently returned from Iraq and I am seeking to proceed with the dream and vision of my new sports apparel company. The name of the company is My House International Sports Apparel, Inc. However, I am running into a brick wall as far as trying to market and promote my gear. I could use any professional help and expertise to help me pursue this venture. The Web site is: www.myhouseintl.com Any form of help would be greatly appreciated.

Review: No one ever got richer, smarter, or better skilled by working for Corporate America their entire careers. I've tested the corporate world a couple of times and each time became tired of poor decision making, politics, lack of training and all the other baggage that comes with the territory. I think it is good to have that experience though, so that you know the issues those folks face when you are trying to sell in a B2B environment. I encourage everyone to at least try out their entrepreneurial side. Just be realistic about your chances of success, set good goals, and stay committed until the venture no longer makes sense personally and financially. Be honest with yourself and you can be successful.

Review: I started a commercial property maintenance company (www.allpave.com) several years ago after 10 years in the financial technology field. Just like Moxley's, my company is also based in Baltimore. There have been plenty of ups and downs but mostly ups and we are growing stronger everyday. The hardest part was making the move and at times it can get overwhelming. I encourage everyone to give considerable thought to entrepreneurship. Talk to your accountant and lawyer and then based on their advice start something you believe can work. The rewards are greater than anything you will experience working for someone else. Good luck to all!

Review: My wife and I relocated to the Berkshires region of MA, known for its beauty, serene open space, culture, the arts and tourism--not a business climate. Sixty years old and not ready for retirement, I am eager to create work where I can be productive and have an income source. My previous background is as a management consultant to global clients focusing on startup and turnaround situations. How to develop or fix businesses is my strength but where we live has no population density to support a small enterpise. Am thinking of Internet distribution or partnership opportunities. Anyone with ideas, please contact me.

Review: My age is 68. I am mostly retired from my business and live about two hours' driving time away. My small business, a "muffler shop," has been good to me, since starting date of 1962. I have thought of starting a small one-man shop near my home but my wife says no. Maybe some one could prompt me to help them start a business. I have noticed no muffler shops in Folsom/Cameron Park area where I live. I have looked at commercial rentals in this area and prices are reasonable. This is just me thinking out loud.
