Review: I received my SynchroMed II Drug Pump on March 18th. It has been my greatest decision! It takes a little bit to get used to the pump in your stomach but it's worth it! I have been told that it will take about 3 months to get the pump meds where they need to be. I just received my PTM (Pain Therapy Manager)today and will be able to start giving myself Bolus injections when needed. What a wonderful machine! If you are in constant pain and are tired of taking pain medicine orally, you will be completely delighted after getting this pump! Don't hesitate! Get your life back!

Review: I am at my wits end with my pain. I have had chronic neck/ cervical pain for years. Had cervical fusion in 2000 and was off work for 2 years and lost that job due to my illness. I stil have alot of pain and terrible headaches that start at the base of my skull all the way round to the front of my head. I have had facet joint blocks, epidurals, rhizotomies and so on. Today my pain Doc told me about this pump, I have currently been off work this time for about 7 months and dearly want to go back, I am only 45 years old. This pump sounds great, but is it TO GOOD TO BE TRUE???? Any comments would dearly be appreciated. I have pretty much gave up on being NORMAL.... again! Please email me with suggestions and/or Horror stories about this Pain Pump.

Review: I received my pump in August 2004. I was lucky enough to get the one that allows you to use the Patient Therapy Manager. This pump has been a life saver for me and my family. I was taking so many prescription drugs and finally just started giving up on life in general because of the medication. I am suppose to get the PTM on May 15, 2007. I can't wait to get it. I still have to take Actiq 1200 mcg for serious bouts of break-thru pain. I can't wait to get the PTM. If it works half as well as the pump does my life will be so much better and no more medication to take orally. I will write back in a month or so to update so everyone can see if the PTM is actually worth it. Scott

Review: I received the new Syncromed II last November and it has saved my life! I have a rare disorder where NO amounts of pain medication will work on me through the normal delivery routes--orally or intravenously. The disorder is in the opiate receptors in my brain--mine haven't worked all my life. My recent pain doctor finally figured out the problem, but not after many, many horror stories of NO pain management after 12 previous surgeries! With this implant, it was the first time I have ever felt any relief from pain in my life! Sounds hard to believe, but it is true. Medtronics has asked me to consider giving testimonials and being available to talk to other potential patients. I will be getting the PTM machine next week, and I am in eager anticipation of having even more control over my pain. So from a perspective of a person who cannot get pain relief any other way, this pump has totally changed my life!

Review: I have had a morphine pump since 1998. I am currently using my second pump. Before the implant was placed I gave up on life. The oral medication made it hard to care about anything. I was numb. Then I met with the chief at our ER and he placed the pump after going through the sets needed to see if this was the answer. Today I am currently a student in college at the age of 45 and enjoying life again. Thanks Medtronic for the research you do to offer me a life!

Review: My pump was put in in November 2006 and I am still having problems with getting the dose right. But it has be a life saver for me also and a pain at times too. It's great not to worry about taking pills that don't work. I also have chronic headaches because of my neck. Does anyone out there have these headaches too?

Review: Dear AGD, I had my pump implanted 1.5 years ago. I remember it took several months for the doctor to get my dosage correct. I had to have dilaudid at first and it didn't relieve the pain enough and then marcaine was added and that was the magical combination for me. You still will have bad days due to the weather and activity levels and it doesn't seem to get much better. When I get the money I will get a PDA so I can adjust my own dose if I need to. I can attest that the Medtronic Synchro-Med II system has given me my life back, but I still can't work because of all of the physical restrictions I have due to the pump.

Review: My pump was implanted two months ago. There are lots of up's and down's to deal with in the beggining. I am told this is seen in many patients trying to find the optimal dose. The medicine is highly concentrated. As a result, the dosage (in this case pump speed} must be increased gradually over time to avoid bothersome side effects. The pain is not constant, it varies day to day and hour to hour. I hope to get the PTM soon so I can return to work without having to manage the pain and carry pills with me all the time.

Review: I am having my pump replaced after five years. It has been a life saver. But my doctor is retiring and I am on my own to find a new one to do my pump refills. Help! Can someone please refer me to a doctor in Arkansas?
