Review: Any updated info on whether this phone will be released with Cingular any time soon? It seems a bit drastic to have to change carriers just to get this phone with the Windows platform!

Review: Useless - a mobile phone (the 700) having only 800/1900 GSM capability will only work in North America. What is the well-healed traveler going to do when he(she) gets off the flight in Europe and finds out the unit is then reduced to only a normal PDA. The European 650 models have four-band GSM and also cost 600 Euros. Such a nationalistic approach to business planning is disappointing.

Review: I see it is good with an Exchange server. What if I don't have one of those? Will it still sync with a computer via cable?

Review: @Patty Verizon has a short-term exclusive. The next version will probably be GSM (Cingular and non-U.S. carriers), though I understand that's being held up a bit until hardware and software for the new high-speed HSDPA service is ready.

Review: @blacksun You can sync a Palm OS device natively to Mac OS X, but not Windows Mobile. There are products, such as PocketMac, that bridge the gap, but they don't support Windows Mobile 5.0 yet.

Review: This is Steve Wildstrom, the writer of this column. @gotcha I just want to make it clear that the reduced resolution wasn't Palm's choice. The Windows Mobile operating system doesn't support the 320x320 resolution of the Treo 650.

Review: Have you tried to sync up with Mac Tiger? - will it easily work well with isync, ical, addressbook, etc - Treo 600 synced up nicely.

Review: I was getting all excited until you got to the part about the reduced screen resolution. I'll stick with my treo 650 for now!

Review: Love Windows Mobile's web browser.. One problem... MS does not publish the extent to which they support XHTML and CSS. The result? I develop websites, and even I can not figure out what webpage codes work in the thing. Since browsing is a major feature (at least for casual use... who wants to use old school WAP pages??) you think Microsoft would release the documents related to development and testing. Contrast this to Opera, who are quite forthcoming about their browser specs. Alas, Opera is only available on smaller "smartphone" Mobile platforms, not handhelds and PDAs. Not deliberately hiding the Pocket IE specs would let techies leave the laptop at home sometimes.
