Nickname: Karen E. Klein
Review: This is Karen Klein, the columnist on this piece. Thanks to everyone for their comments. I want to clarify a bit. According to The Office of Government Contracting (GC), under the Small Business Act, federal agencies conduct a variety of procurements that are reserved exclusively for small business participation. Currently the goal is 23%. This includes the specific goals of 5% to Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB), 3% to service disabled veterans, 5% to small disadvantaged businesses, and the HUBZone goal of 3%. According to Mike Stamler, SBA spokesman, half of the 5% goal for small, disadvantaged businesses goes to 8(a) companies.

Review: Karen Klein reveals that she does not know what she is talking about regarding Federal procurement when she erroneously states that "30% of the Federal government's $250 billion technology spending by law has to go to 8(a) contractors." That is incorrect. There is no 8(a)goal in Federal procurement law. Steve Denlinger CEO - LAMA www.LAMAUSA.com
