Review: Thanks for your comments folks. As for what Amgen is going to do with the "mouse business," which is Abgenix's technology platform for creating fully-human antibodies, CEO Sharer commented on that in his call with analysts. This technology is actually the backbone of Abgenix's business, and one of the main assets that attracted Amgen to it, he indicated. Abgenix has been developing several other drugs from this platform, and clearly Amgen intends to continue to develop these products and others with the mouse technology. As for the size of the market that Abgenix's lead drug for colon cancer is addressing, Sharer points out that the $2 billion estimate takes into account that the drug is being tested in several different treatment settings. The $2 billion figure is an estimate of the drug's peak potential.

Review: What will Amgen do with Abgenix's mouse business? It doesn't seem like Amgen's cup of tea. Will Amgen spin it off?

Review: The shareholders of Abgenix are getting ripped off. The company already had a really sweet deal with Amgen to get 50% of the profits. Abgenix not only has oodles of truly good prospects for other drug products, but Abgenix also owns the technology to produce them. I am also annoyed that the deal is being portrayed to the press as a done deal before the shareholders have voted. Furthermore, I would bet my house that the CEO of Abgenix who will be leaving and who probably set the deal up will be getting one heck of a golden parachute, while all I'm getting for my share is the shaft. Abgenix shareholders once had a company capitalized at $7 billion. The company is probably worth more than the Immunex deal where Amgen paid something like $10 billion because of unbelievable long-term potential. This is sad. Even worse, when the Abgenix shareholders start to speak up, there will be a great distraction.

Review: Maybe you should read some of the other articles on this story to get the price right. Abgx went up BY 7+ not to 7.

Review: How did the egrf/CRC market suddenly become so large that abgx's slice could equal $2 billion? Does this mean that imcl's slice was $4 billion? And is now left with only a $2 billion slice?
