Review: I do not believe it is that important to make the iPod wireless connectable. Apple should build a video download business using the same iTunes model. What I would like to see is to be able to buy or rent movies through iTunes.

Review: Being an Apple (and Mac) fan and user for decades (yes, it has been more than 20 years folks!), I welcome Apple's consumer electronics moves, but hope these are not at the expense of another device whose time has come (again) to come from Apple (again). For example: a new iPod based Newton-like PDA. I do not really need it to do handwriting recognition (which I loved on the Newton) but it would make the iPod an even more usable device and platform. (Please see my blog at http://imran.com/media/blog/ about Making The iPod A Computing Platform). Thanks.

Review: No wonder the masses can't tell the difference between real journalists and bloggers. Is this "news?" I don't see any facts supporting the headline.

Review: After introducing iPods that store pictures and play videos, what's the next move? Will Apple add a CMOS digital camera chip like the ones made by Omnivision, so we can take our own pictures and videos?

Review: Wireless electricity has been around for eons - it's called lightning!
What's needed is a low-cost way for getting video on to the iPod off the TV without a computer! That's coming soon, too.

Review: I have pioneered totally wireless media pods in my community, but have you considered the complications of bounce-back noise inherent in the technology. There are a number of third- party devices that utilize xxMPp technology so one can model and extrapolate further bounce-back and beam-through noise so you can better position components, or configure living arrangements within your dwelling. Or you could drop the UWB from the chipsets entirely and jump straight ahead to UMMx. Fewer bounce-backs and beam-throughs but higher radiation levels which may prove unsafe over longer periods of time.

Review: Apple high-speed wireless connections from their boxes to monitors and TV DVD screens promise to allow unification of media systems with Apple hardware without pulling wires. Coming soon.

Review: It's been done before, yes. So had mp3 players, when iPod arrived. The reason to get excited is that when Apple decides to tackle a problem, it will think through the user interface to a point where the product is a joy to use. It's not who is first, it's who is best. The reason people are excited by the possibility of Apple doing a DVR is that people know they will do it right, and they hunger for the kinds of products that Apple builds.

Review: JasonB, It's because when Apple does something. It does it right -- or close to it. The reason the video iPod is such a big deal is because Apple also is building the infrastructure to support the device.
If Apple does a DVR, you can bet it will be as easy to do as it is to look up TV listings. I have a standalone DVR that feels clunky because it's hobbled with a very slow processor. If it wasn't for that, it'd be great. Microsoft, likewise is hobbled by the complexity of their software packages and they have to turn to other vendors. In contrast, Apple does it all under one roof.
For years people where saying Apple should dump its hardware, or Apple should pick whether it wants to be a hardware or software company. I think the coming revival of Apple will show their way is a better way.
A DVR from Apple isn't a big deal, and no one is saying they did it first, but it's their execution of the idea that makes them first in consumer's minds.
