Review: Because I could not depend on the over the counter software I have chosen a comprehensive security softare. It is entreprise software made by SOPHO. You get the benefit from the same type of security enjoyed by major corporations, including unlimited expert support! You never have to buy or upgrade the software. Invisus Direct takes care of that for you. They have a patch management program, anti virus, anti-spyware, and free tech support. I have used the tech support and they all speak English. And they don't read off a data base. You are welcome to check out this Web site myinvisusdirect.com/RENEE

Review: I had hacker issues 1+ yrs ago using this product. My mouse would suddenly take on a life of its own. My printer would start printing when I was in another room. Firewall rules would be created and altered without my input. I could not get any assistance from customer support. I'd get responses saying, "To resolve the issue, I suggest you configure the firewall rules properly." (Gee thanks). After replying that their response really didn't help, the response was "I apologize for any difficulty this situation has caused you and also for the delayed response. Please note that due to server transition, we have lost all of your previous interactions with respect to the Ticket ID # XXXXXXX. So, if you could kindly re-post the query along with the trouble-shooting steps that you have performed, we would be in a better position to assist you." (Thanks again). I immediately switched to ZoneAlarm, and have not experienced any of the above mentioned issues. I'll never go back.

Review: Anybody had that experience with Symantec? I bought their product. Whenever a new virus comes up and you require their assistance to get rid of it, they want to charge you about $70 again. Do they think customers are fools, or what? In addition to that, you wait on the phone forever. I will not buy their product again. I think that says it all. Good luck Symantec!

Review: I was not really surprised at this article. I recently switched all my protections to Zone Alarm (I'd used their firewall for four years). As soon as I deleted Symantec and rebooted, I did not get Zone Alarm Alerts (gee, I wonder why?). What a sad thing for a once good company. John

Review: I do tech work, too. Time after time, I'd check out a machine that had Norton Antivirus running with viruses. One had 18 -- 18. NAV missed it all. Next question, was it up to date: yes. Norton just wasn't seeing them. Ran Trendmicro's online free virus scan. That cleaned 17 off. I had to get the last one myself. No virus scanner is perfect, but I've switched all my clients to Trendmicro.

Review: I was unhappy with Norton's service and renewal price as well. After extensively researching other solutions we switched to Kaspersky and we're overjoyed. I found over 20 viruses/malicious files on my machine that Norton didn't catch.

Review: Odd how NAV is so hated yet so often used. I run a number of defensive apps on my PC (HiJackThis; CWShredder; Spybot; Adaware SE; Zone Alarm; The Cleaner, and of course NAV). Sounds like a lot of maintenance but most run on their own and I only initiate scans with them once in a while. I've had Gibson Research try hacking my machine (albeit with slightly less tenacity than a true hacker) on numerous occasions to no avail on their part. I access the Web daily and haven't had a problem in over a year. I have had past issues; I'm not invulnerable. I'm just saying things aren't all doom and gloom at the consumer level. I just don't think we are as tasty a target as the big guys. During those past issues, however, Norton was useless - didn't detect a virus the others found every time (and I agree about it being a resource hog). The Cleaner and CWShredder were the most effective. I've heard good things about Pcillin and will likely switch when my NAV subscription runs out.

Review: ..."an average of 51 days for most software firms." Is that really "days" or could it be a typo?

Review: I quit using any Symantec product about a year ago, switching to Trend products, primarily because of lousy customer service, indifferent support, and failure of product to load properly. I am not surprised that vulnerabilities have been found. Symantec forgot the needs of their customer and rested on ill-deserved reputation.
