Review: So how do you justify calling the NY AG aggressive? For an AG, such mere talk amounts to "look at me, I'm doing something," while doing nothing. It doesn't rate being on the same page with the Texas AG's actions.

Review: Installing a spyware should be made a criminal offense and anyone who does it must be dealt with under stringent criminal laws, and sent to prison. The government should see that anyone connected to this should go behind bars and not limited to compensation, which monster corporations find easy to pay.

Review: I have to examine around 2000 machines on my network that are potentially rooted because of this and I'm supposed to be satisfied that Sony said it was sorry and offered to recall them? I'm sorry, but that's crap. If some teenage kid got caught distributing a rootkit by hiding it in some distributed media (say an e-mail), people like Spitzer would be seeking jail time. But because Sony does it an apology and maybe a fine makes it all ok? What the hell! Nice double standard.

Review: Sony dropped the ball a long time ago when they tried to use a proprietary DRM (digital rights management system) for their MP3 players, and subsequently lost the MP3 player market (which was theirs to lose) to Apple. They lost the plot with their proprietary Memory Stick storage, which to this date still holds less and costs more than its competition, all in the name of useless DRM. The problem with Sony is that it is no longer a technology company. It is a media company: Their biggest mistake was trying to be both. This is the nail in the coffin for Sony. They just don't get it.

Review: For many years I have sought out and purchased Sony electronic gear - TVs, VCRs, CD/DVD players, receivers, amps, etc -- more than $10,000 over the years. But now I will never buy Sony again after their disastrous DRM affair and deceptive insulting treatment of their customers. It is completely and absolutely unacceptable for any company to install the sort of destructive ware that Sony published on any computer of mine -- ever. I will vote with my money against this sort of corporate wrongdoing -- and I hope many others will do the same.

Review: I have bought two Sony VAIO laptops in the last couple of years but I will never buy another one. I don't trust them to sell me a secure laptop anymore.
Sony's behavior is really disappointing and I wonder if they really understand how badly this is damaging their reputation.

Review: The backlash against Sony/BMG will be felt during the holiday buying season. I have already not bought a Sony TV, not bought Sony CDs. I bought competitors' products instead and have advised everyone to do the same and basically boycott buying any Sony products.

Review: Canadians concerned about this issue should ask candidates during the election what they will do to protect them (both the musicians and music fans) from the unscrupulous activities of "copyright holders" like Sony BMG.
See our Citizens' forum at:

Bill C-60, the bill the Liberals planned to push through, would have given additional legal protection for the abusive "technical measures" that companies like Sony-BMG are using to meter, monitor and control our private (unrelated to copyright) activities.

Review: Spitzer going after Sony is a joke. He's already done it once for payola and merely gave them a slap on the wrist. What's he gonna do here, slap the other one? Wanna get great music that isn't going to harm your machine? Buy a non-signed artist like me. I bet you'll like it.

Review: This is sad. I've always loved Sony products since my Sony Multiscan G400 showed up. Now I won't ever buy their products again, as I can't trust them. There are already others on that list but I never expected Sony to join them. Very sad.
