Review: Electronic books, which are not very successful commercially, have been helping college students with reading disabilities for at least the last five years. Textbook publishers are required by law to provide electronic textbooks at no charge in several states. In this case, assistive technology is well ahead of the mainstream.

Review: It is wonderful to read that
millions of children worldwide will be given tough little basic computers to help them join the technological age.
It is also good to know that
someone out there is thinking about age-related
disabilities, and will do
their best to overcome the
kind of difficulties older
people suffer when using a
computer. I hope very much that these improvements will also be made at the lowest
possible cost.

Review: Steve forgot to mention a new feature in Mac OSX called VoiceOver, which allows you to access the Mac through speech, audible cues and keyboard navigation. It even reads a book/text end to end in any of the 15+ voices available!
It's designed for those with visual impairments.
